Beethoven’s Fidelio. June 6 & 8. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy the famous composer’s only opera with the ASO and conductor Robert Spano for two nights only. The first performance of Fidelio took place at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna in 1805 and was conducted by Beethoven himself. The opera is based on a libretto by the French lawyer and writer Jean-Nicolas Bouilly, and tells the story of a woman willing to risk all to rescue her husband from political oppression.
