The exhibition will open in 2019 and showcase the history of fashion from the 18th century to the present.

The creation of a space for permanent exhibitions at the Palais Galliera is being supported by Chanel. It will become the first permanent fashion museum in Paris, but currently it only displays temporary exhibits. As the exclusive sponsor, Chanel plans to contribute finance renovations estimated at a total cost of $6 million at current exchange for 5.7 million euros.

This project is planned to enhance the City of Light's reputation as the "capital of fashion" by showcasing the city's fashion heritage.
