Maison de hoe FW23

"A Journey Back in Time to the Peasants in the Fields of Childhood"

Maison de Hoe's Fall/Winter 2023 collection is a reflection of designer Hanwei Su's quest for self-awareness and her fusion of Chinese and Western culture, drawing inspiration from her childhood memories in rural China and her experiences living in New York City. It represents Maison de Hoe's philosophy of celebrating cultural diversity and the convergence of different worlds.

The collection pays homage to the collision between the rustic Chinese countryside and the cosmopolitan lifestyle of New York. Inspired by the simple elements of rural Chinese villages, such as windows and metal latches commonly found on village gates, the FW23 collection incorporates these rustic elements into the garment's structural design. It features vintage buttons that evoke memories of the past while promoting sustainability, along with a mix of leftover velvet, jacquard, and plaid fabrics in the tailoring, while sharp lines and oversized shapes reflect the modern style and edgy attitude of New York City.
