The W Atlanta Downtown is for the dogs! Puppies actually. Well, puppies for adoption, at an event.

The Humane Event

brought out some very stylish supporters of animal rights. The venue was swanky, the cocktails flowing and the cause, very serious.

The background information on the 1873 Society Club:

In October 2009, the Atlanta Humane Society Board of Directors created a junior board, the 1873 Society Club, comprised of young professionals and philanthropists, devoted to raising awareness and funds to support the mission of the Atlanta Humane Society. The Atlanta Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Inc. was founded in 1873 and is the city's oldest, private, not-for-profit animal welfare organization. The 1873 Society Club hosted The Humane Event as its inaugural signature fundraiser and will dedicate all funds raised in 2010 and 2011 to tending to the medical & emotional needs of dogs rescued from fighting rings.

This powerful video is a must see. Its difficult at times to watch, but please, take 4:55 minutes, and let its power move you.
