Todd Snyder Enters the Auto World With a $305K Land Rover Defender Collaboration
/When Todd Snyder collaborates, culture follows.
Long crowned the King of Collaborations — thanks to design partnerships with Champion, Timex, FootJoy, and L.L.Bean — the American menswear designer has now shifted gears and taken his signature eye for material, detail, and refinement into the automotive world.
Enter: the Todd Snyder x Balmoral Defender Limited Edition — a $305,000 reimagining of the iconic Land Rover Defender D90 built for modern gentlemen who prefer their luxury rugged and their craftsmanship uncompromising.
A Classic Defender, Rebuilt for the Modern Era
This month, British restoration house Balmoral Defender tapped Snyder to design a special edition vehicle for its Rugged Gentleman Collection, a series of three vintage Defenders reconstructed with contemporary performance and bespoke design.
The result is Edition 001 — a fully restored 1998 Defender D90 transformed into a high-performance luxury SUV with couture-level attention to detail.
“When I was a teenager, I went to my first classic car show and have been fascinated with automotive design ever since,” Snyder said. “To partner with Balmoral Defender has been extraordinary. My love for materiality, design, and craftsmanship is only equal to Balmoral Defender’s commitment to best-in-class restoration.”
Crafted Across Three Continents
The build was a global effort. Snyder collaborated with:
Balmoral Defender’s restoration team in England’s Cotswolds
Master leather artisans in Andalucía, Spain
Performance mechanics in Florida
The interior is wrapped in Leat Me Italian leather with contrast stitching, honeycomb-quilted seating, and a Sonnenland Dark Beige Mohair convertible roof — turning British country grit into Riviera-ready elegance.
Under the hood, this is no museum piece.
The vehicle features:
LT1 V8 engine
10-speed automatic transmission
Alcon braking system
Upgraded suspension
Modern power steering
It’s heritage — supercharged.
A Collector’s Dream on Wheels
The Todd Snyder Edition 001 marks the first of only 10 made-to-order vehicles, each starting at $305,000. Two additional editions are already in development and set for release later this year.
Because when fashion meets horsepower, the result isn’t just a car.
It’s a lifestyle.
