Rounding out a prolific year, Bastille surprises fans with their new Goosebumps EP today via Republic Records—listen HERE.

The EP arrives with their new single and title track “Goosebumps” feat. Kenny Beats, which was written and recorded last year in New York and in their London studio, One Eyed Jack’s. To celebrate its arrival, the band also shares the official video for the new song. Helmed by frequent collaborator and London-based British/Iranian director Reza Dolatabadi, the visual unfolds as a surrealist dreamscape with a mosaic of modernist and psychedelic vignettes synced perfectly to the immersive sonic ebb and flow and fluttering hook. Earlier this week, frontman Dan Smith joined Kenny Beats on his fan favorite Twitch show to discuss “Goosebumps” and the collaboration—check out some of their chat here.

Bastille set the stage for Goosebumps with their fan favorite single “survivin’,” which has vaulted into the Top 10 on the AAA Radio Chart and is continuing to gain steam. Additionally, the five-track EP boasts “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” feat. Graham Coxon alongside a pair of energetic, live performances of “survivin’” and “Goosebumps” from One Eyed Jack’s.

Of the EP, Dan Smith says, “Working on these songs has been such a brilliantly distracting part of this year for us. This is the tip of the iceberg of what we’ve been doing, but it’s been fun to show people a few different sides to what we’ve been up to. Getting to collaborate with people like Graham Coxon and Kenny Beats hopefully shows the diversity of what we do across our albums and mixtapes. This EP has been a lot of fun to make, and we’ve loved seeing the reactions so far. We’re happy to have this little body of work out, and we’re incredibly excited for all that’s to come next year.

Regarding the new song, Smith adds, “We wanted to make a throwback R&B song and something a bit more playful. We had a lot of fun writing and recording it, initially on a day in between shows whilst touring in New York last year, and then back in London at our studio—One Eyed Jack’s. We’re big fans of Kenny Beats and having met him in LA invited him to hang out at the studio when he was in town. We played each other a load of music, and he loved ‘Goosebumps’ and immediately started working on beats and sounds for it, and it kind of went from there.

Goosebumps sets the stage for more new music to come from Bastille in 2021!

Dim Mak Revamps New Noise Imprint With Copyright Free Model Aimed at Gaming and YouTube Communities

dim mak records new noise edm

New Noise is Dim Mak’s new music discovery imprint that focuses on cutting edge sounds from burgeoning artists across the genre spectrum. Launched in 2010, New Noise got its start as a compilation series highlighting fresh faces handpicked by Steve Aoki and crew. By 2015, the platform evolved into a bi-weekly, free-download model based on singles. Today we are proud to announce the next progression of New Noise: a copyright free model that will allow the budding community of Twitch gamers and amateur YouTube content creators to use New Noise music in their videos and live streams with ease. Via a newly minted YouTube channel dedicated to New Noise, Twitch gamers and aspiring YouTube stars alike can now browse, discover and download New Noise songs to use in their video content sans purchase or fees, all in exchange for linking back to the artists and their music.

The announcement serendipitously arrived around world-renowned gaming convention TwitchCon, where Dim Mak boss and steadfast Twitch supporter Steve Aoki headlined TwitchCon’s Official Party in San Diego’s Petco Park this past Saturday, October 1st. During his performance, Steve Aoki announced his ownership in the Las Vegas eSports organization, ROGUE. Having been a lifelong gamer, Steve Aoki became determined to build an eSports team after his experience at PAX East in April of this year, where he was invited to participate in a Street Fighter V exhibition match. He has been involved in eSports since his first introduction to Twitch after having hosted the platform's first non-gaming livestream, his performance at Pacha in Ibiza back in 2015.

Both Aoki and Dim Mak now have official Twitch channels from which they regularly broadcast music and gaming-oriented live streams. For instance, Dim Mak has recently hosted live streams from their downtown Los Angeles headquarters that pair up DJs with well-known gamers such as IIJERiiCHOII, Reynad27 and TheZombiUnicorn. With deep roots in the community, including spearheading his own mobile game Beat Bomb, Aoki aims to provide gamers with new ways to further enliven their experience via music.

“I game on Twitch, I stream music on Twitch, and I played TwitchCon, so I’m beyond excited to take this next step with gamers. Giving the Twitch community unbridled access to this great music we curate for the New Noise imprint is part of Dim Mak’s ongoing mission to promote new artists and new sounds. Some of today’s most exciting young producers are releasing on New Noise, and allowing copyright free access to this music for Twitch gamers will not only help these new artists quickly build a fanbase - it will also take the gamers’ streams to the next level.” – Steve Aoki
