3 Scarf Tricks You Have Got to Try

 by guest blogger Lisa Loperfido

Everybody loves scarves. They make the perfect accessories for, well, anything. Here are three tricks you might not have thought for using your scarves to their fullest potential.

1. Have you ever been in a hurry to get to work, but your clothes are all soiled from endless nights of partying with no time to launder in between? Throw on a scarf! A big loop-de-loop will cover that red wine right up.

2. Want to rock the infinity but all your old scarves are boring “rectangle” shaped? Knot the ends of your “boring” scarf together, circle it twice around your head and tuck the tied ends beneath the loop - you are good to go!

3. This next look is mainly for the ladies… Recently I cut off all my hair which also means no more giant top buns! (So sad!) To make up for it I tie a scarf into a big rosette on top of my head which adds maximum volume to my do! Whether you’ve still got your long locks, or are going through a pixie phase like me, this look will add volume and MAKE IT WORK every time!

I’m going to assume there are a lot of scarves in your closet that you might have forgotten about… bring’em out, bring’em out! A scarf is a great way to bring life back into an outfit, add volume to your look, or cover up mishaps. Wear it with confidence and enjoy that fabulous scarf collection!

ATELIER VERSACE SPRING 2014

ATELIER VERSACE SPRING 2014

Donatella Versace pulled up to the bumper baby and channelled Grace Jones for Spring 2014. The 70's disco retro-vibe couture collection offered a skillful balance between form-fitted silhouettes and draping. Sexy, glass-beaded, crystal-covered, red carpet dresses in very bright colors owned the runway. I can see Donatella wearing it all!

ZUHAIR MURAD COUTURE 2014

ZUHAIR MURAD COUTURE 2014

Zuhair Murad's garden was in full bloom. The designer presented a classically couture collection featuring [my faves] feathers, sequins, lace and satins. There were jumpsuits and trousers, red carpet gowns and cocktail frocks -- something divine for everyone.

CHANEL COUTURE SPRING 2014

CHANEL COUTURE SPRING 2014

It's been often said that Karl Lagerfeld is a genius; I won't argue that.

He is.

But where I find his genius to lie within is not in Lagerfeld's indisputable talent but in his ability to keep such an established house young and modern. While the collection was textile and texture rich, the overall emotion was light and sporty. The models wore sneakers!

How fabulous is that?!

[Watch the video] the show doesn't disappoint in visual drama. That stage was immaculate and glorious plus who can resist a grand staircase? What I found most ironic and perhaps controversial about the collection was Lagerfeld's use of the corset -- and item despised by Queen Coco! I'm sure it was no accident.

Moncler Gamme Bleu Fall 2014 Menswear

It was all about the argyle. And women.

Thom Browne has gone beyond androgyny this time... Well, actually, he introduced womenswear to Moncler Gamme Bleu, hence, "real" women modeled alongside the guys. I would love to live inside Thom Browne's head for a day, though I doubt that would be enough time to understand the designer's genius. And I'm afraid anymore time would cause irreversible insanity.

But seriously, the collection, as always, didn't disappoint [me]. Layers and layers and more layers from jackets to knickers, some quilted and others sequined, turned the runway into a kaleidoscope of argyle.

Fabulous

Calling All Single Ladies: How to Make a Fashion Statement at Your Next Wedding

by guest blogger Lori Miller

While weddings are joyous occasions as we watch our dear friends and family members make commitments to theirpartners, weddings can also be the single girl's nemesis and a torturous reminder of bad luck in love. A woe-is-me attitude won't make prince charming magically appear, however. No need to mope, you have a party to attend—and an outfit to put together to make yourself stand out to all those single groomsmen.

Tulle Skirt

A knee-high soft pastel or tea-length emerald green tulle skirt evokes true party girl style. Pair your skirt with a black cashmere sweater and black heels. Have fun with your unorthodox wedding cocktail attire by pulling your hair up into a messy top bun. Accent your updo with a dark-colored turban headband, and glue on gemstones for sparkly flair. Grab an understated black clutch full of your bare essentials: ID, credit card, red lipstick, phone and keys.

Sequin Pants

Most girls will don a dress to a wedding, but since you're not like most girls, why not go glam with sequins skinnies? The dazzle creates just enough flair that ensures you're not underdressed for the occasion. For the top, go for a structured blouse with pleats or a lacy form-fitting blouse with long-sleeves. Keep the top a neutral color, such as pearl or sand, and accessorize like crazy. Think layers of metallic bangles and a sparkly statement necklace. High heels are non-negotiable.

Hair Ornaments

Ditch the flat iron, because you're tresses are about to get whimsical. Give your wayward hair its freedom, and use clips decorated with vintage flowers or gold stars to capture flyaways. To let the beauty of your face shine, drape hair back into a bouffant hair style pulled to one side. Slip in glittery hair pins to draw attention to your locks' nest of fabulousness. Sweeping hair back in two messy braids or a double-braid updo that gathers at the nape of your neck will also steal glances. P.S. Don't be surprised when you get a

Fur 'N Fringe

Get flirty with a layered fringe or fur mini skirt that you can sashay in from ceremony to reception. To offset the sassiness of the short skirt, throw on a snugly fit blazer jacket accented with a slim shimmery belt tied around your waist. The unexpected look encapsulates your frisky side that comes home at sunrise, as well as your reserved side that hides your mysteriousness.

Stunning Makeup

Apply very cherry red rouge to brighten your face with allure and sensuality. You are single, by the way, surrounded by bachelors in tuxes. To draw attention to your peepers, color your eyelids with golden specs of glitter and apply a smokey eye. Complement your over-the-top glittered eyes with a soft pink shade of lipstick in cotton candy or mauve. If you're glamming out your eyes, keep your hair and outfit simple and understated.
