A Perfect Fall Brunch

A week ago, my good friend Laura had me over to her amazing home for brunch. Laura has impeccable taste in fashion, interior design and culinary arts so I knew I was in for a treat. Not that her company alone wouldn't suffice, but c'mon, we all like nice things and special touches. Laura served a meal, perfect for that transitional period between seasons. The heavy hitters were homemade crab cakes, so scrumptious and paired with a spicy sauce I can't pronounce,and to start, lobster bisque. To balance things out and maintain a summery appeal, we had a fresh green salad accompanied with a fruit salad loaded with sweet watermelon. Rather than mimosas, Laura switched out the orange juice for pomegranate. Great twist! Delicious food, a beautiful setting and fabulous company, Laura is the perfect hostess ... I could learn a lot from her! [Can't forget dessert...] Oreo truffles, I died and went to Heaven.

Life on Mars / Freak Show

I can't get this scene from Freak Show out of my head - so thought I'd share it with you.

David Bowie fans may not be to excited over Jessica Lange's rendition of his song, "Life on Mars," but American Horror Story Freak Show creator, Ryan Murphy, knew exactly what he was doing. It was quite clever to use a song written in 1973 to represent a show which takes place in 1952. To that, add Jessica Lange's Marlene Dietrich-ish style, the powder blue suit with matching eye shadow and all the circus freaks and the tone of the season was set. Lange's Elsa Mars may be my favorite AHS role to date and her character may prove to be scarier than the creepy clowns. It's going to be a freakishly twisted season.

CFDA: The Fashion Fund RETURNS

I got hooked, and by hooked I mean, obsessed with

The Fashion Fund

and now its back for a second season! The docu-series gives us an inside look at the challenging and inspiring journey that the ten candidates up for the esteemed CFDA's Fashion Fund Designer of the Year award face in this incredible competition. But let's get real for a minute, can we? This is all great and engaging, but we know that the real reason we watch The Fashion Fund is to see

Anna Wintour. The Queen of Vogue smiles and removes her sunglasses from time to time. I can't get enough of her! The Fashion Fund reveals a side you don't usually see from Anna Wintour. She even takes you into her home. On a more personal note, I love that Jeffrey Fashion Cares' Jeffrey Kalinsky is on the show. He spoke about it with me last August.
