KIM TIZIANA ROTTMULLER SS19 NYFW

KIM TIZIANA ROTTMULLER SS19 NYFW

German designer Kim Tiziana Rottmüller leads us through a spiritual story for collection ‘Oblivion’, taking inspiration from a seductive witch, a symbol for our transcendental self and inner magical power. Lilac, the color for spirituality brings light into the collection whereas black is used to submit the unknown, mysterious darkness. Experiments with volume are revealed through oversized hoods and layers of ruffles.

YAJUN SS19 NYFW

Strange loop: Humans habitually live in a well-defined world, and everything they do has reasons and meaning.

YAJUN

For Spring Summer 2019, Yajun examined the "isomorphic" relationships of men, women and clothing. Inspired by the art of M.C. Esher where everything seems to loop with no beginnings or endings, this collection attempted to push the conformity of design and practicality to greater heights. Presenting menswear and womenswear on the runway this season, Yajun invited the audience to rethink how garments are worn and viewed, offering endless possibilities of interpretation. Jackets, shirts, pants and pockets were wrapped in "strange loops" leaving you to decide its placement, form and function. Yajun SS19 is a collection for the modern thinker with an open mind and a great sense of style.

JUN JIE SS19 NYFW

Designers often look to the past to create a new future and Spring Summer 2019 was just like that for Jun Jie. The menswear and womenswear designer presented a rich collection of 70s retro inspired looks. Bold colors and strong pattern while giving a nod to the past, still embraced a young, modern and chic approach. Jun Jie also featured hand bags and futuristically fabulous shoes. Models stood, sat and posed in an art deco influenced set which help drive the play in time and era of the very well received collection.

Jun Jie is a New York based luxury fashion label whose focus is both menswear and womenswear. Jun Jie is emphasizing a unique approach to a new fashion generation.

THE BLONDS X DISNEY VILLIANS SS19 NYFW

Designer Phillipe Blond Spring 2019 NYFW

Designer Phillipe Blond Spring 2019 NYFW

“Often misunderstood, Disney Villains are flawed, imposing and mysterious, and we loved the idea of taking these characteristics and translating them in a glamorous way, making them the heroes of our story.” David Blond

The Blonds put FASHION back in Fashion Week with their Spring Summer 2019 collection. The show-stopping runway was dynamic, theatrical and wickedly fabulous. Their collaboration with Disney included NYFW glammed out interpretations of the most infamous kind: Maleficent, Evil Queen, Ursula and Cruella.

Paris Hilton portrayed a sequined, bedazzled Cruella De Vil with dog in hand and Loubs on feet.

The Blonds SS19 shined, shimmered and sparkled with a series of catsuits, jackets and feathered coats. The rock-glam vibe of the collection will translate quite well with chic night-lifers and edgy socialites.

Acne Studios Exclusive Collaboration

Acne Studios and iconic outdoor brand Fjällräven, whose functional designs are hallmarks of Swedish culture have partnered for an exclusive collaboration.

This collaboration is the first time Fjällräven has ever allowed another brand to pay homage to its classic pieces. To create the collection, Acne Studios Creative Director Jonny Johansson carefully selected each piece, dissected it, studied its construction, kept its significant features and brought Fjällräven into the world of Acne Studios.

The unisex collection launches worldwide on September 6th, in Acne Studios stores and at acnestudios.com and will be available until the end of the year.

KENZO - La Collection Memento to switch to 'See Now, Buy Now' format.

kenzo

KENZO is happy to announce the next phase in its development for KENZO – La Collection Memento.

kenzo La Collection Memento men

As of February 2019, KENZO will switch to a ‘see-now, buy-now’ format for its collection focused on reinventing KENZO’s rich archives for today. Instead of presenting a collection as part of this upcoming Paris fashion week, KENZO will remain part of the fashion calendar by celebrating the launch of its new film during New York Fashion Week on 7th September.

“We are super excited to work on this project for next year. The response over the past two years to La Collection Memento from press and customers alike has been amazing. Logistically it’s easier for us to present our main collections for KENZO in January and June, and this will remain the case, but giving customers the option to buy La Collection Memento as soon as it hits the runway is something we’re thrilled to pursue.” Carol Lim & Humberto Leon

The next KENZO show will take place in January 2019 when the house will present its men’s and women’s collections for Fall/Winter 2019/20.

KENZO – La Collection Memento was introduced in March 2017 and focuses on re-examining the archives of the near 50-year-old French founded Maison. It is presented twice yearly in February and September as part of Paris fashion week.

Jeffrey Kalinsky’s Fall Trend Forecast:

If there is one bold font message from the Fall 2018 shows, it’s that fashion is forever changing. In a world where bothmenswear and womenswear are being presented together, brands are evolving from the notion of seasonal collections.

If we had to choose one word to describe the season, it is #EMPOWERMENT. The expression of femininity came in many differentshapes and sizes. From sharp shoulder outerwear, to an array of shine and iridescent colors, Fall 18 was anything but safe.

Other notable trends we noticed on the runways:

Sparkle:  Traditional sequins just don’t cut it! Your favorite knits, dresses, and coats have been transformed into exploded novelty items. The whirl of paillettes storming down the runway was hard to miss and the most shimmering jumpsuits were sent down the cat walk.

Oversize:  Enormous fashion, anyone? Don’t be afraid to layer up with 2-in-1 pieces or oversized strong shoulder outerwear reminiscent of the 80’s. Designers are delivering exciting collaborations with this trend.

Sports:  Go team go! Many designers took to the sports culture, each creating their own athletic inspired merchandise.

Neon:  Not afraid of color! Fall 2018 brings you iridescent dresses that can be seen from a mile away.  On the runway, there were eye-popping neons (pink, green, and orange) in every type of fabric imaginable, including florescent infused knits.

Plaid:  Plaid looked richer than ever this season. We saw perfect tailoring to strong outerwear, all featuring plaid or plaid prints.
