AKNVAS SS23 NYFW

For his Spring-Summer 2023 collection, Christian Juul Nielsen turned to the French pantomime character Pierrot Lunaire. In this retelling, Pierrot found himself in an Icelandic flower field after falling to the earth from the moon, surrounded by purple blue lupines, lavender cuckoos, and acid green grass. Pierrot brings with him to earth bits of the silvershine from the moon while still wearing his black headpiece, ruffled shirts, and oversized pants, all accented with tons of tulle. Once on earth, he paints his new fantasy canvas of what AKNVAS could be...

Spring-Summer 2023 is a mixture of men’s, women’s, and genderless clothes. It features crisp tech taffeta, tons of Pierrot-inspired ruffles, and hammered metallic tinfoil-like lame mixed with chunky open knit fringe sweaters. Inspired by Pierrot’s costumes, the collection includes babydoll dresses and oversized shirts styled on top of pants, ruffled neck pieces, and almost costume-like black latex socks. Blending Pierrot’s past life in space with his new world, the collection blends textures including a super shiny vegan leather with semi-transparent embroidered turtlenecks and tech taffeta gloves.
