I knew she was.

Drexina is an accomplished stylist who started photographing her own work after technical (photo) criticism.

"I was told my portfolio looked great but that I should get another photographer, so I just went out, bought a camera and thats how all this started."

Teen Vogue

Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2009 with Jason Wu

The time was 4:35 pm and I was heading to the W Downtown for the 5:00 VIP media party for Jeffrey Fashion Cares. I pulled up to valet by 5:05 and rushed over to rendezvous with bridal wear designer and the JFC Honorary Chair, Anne Barge on the 18th floor. Minutes after greeting Anne, she introduced me to Jason Wu. He was delightful, though he claimed not to know much English - not true! We spoke about food. The night before (Thursday) he dined at Bacchanalia and loved it, however, he was interested in tasting southern cooking.  

How the evening played out:

6:00 pm

Anne and I walked over to the show venue.   

6:30 pm

VIP guests started to fill the room. Fifteen minutes later, the flood gates open and the room is rapidly occupied with bow ties and stilettos.

7:00 pm

Champagne

8:30 pm

We took our seats. Anne Barge is recognized as the Honorary Chair by

Jeffrey Kalinsky

. Jason Wu is acknowledged. The co-chairs say a few words and the live auction begins.

9:15 pm

Fashion Fashion Fashion Cares! The runway ran for more than thirty minutes, I think. I lost track of time, but that's not a bad thing.

10 pm- Midnight

, VIP after-party at the W's rooftop Wetbar with

Fred Schneider

of the

B-52's

spinning live music!

Feed the Models…Save the World

was hosted by

boutique and catered deliciously by

Gary Mennie’s

restaurant at the Georgian Terrace. Guests enjoyed great food and grooved to the latest music, spun live by

DJ Jay McCracken

, while they purchased their designer Feed the Models shirt with proceeds going to EDIN.

The Feed the Models campaign, launched locally more than two years ago by

UrbanCouture

(UC), Grady High School’s fashion design program and its creator E. Vincent Martinez, was a stylish reaction to the seriousness of eating disorders. UC’s top designers, who are high school seniors, felt passionately about creating a fundraiser for a cause that is relevant to young people and is a real problem within the fashion industry, to which they hope to be a part of someday.
