Rick Owens Fall 2015 Women

Rick Owens kept dick off the runway this time. For one, it's womenswear and for another, a true artist would never do the same thing twice. When you're an avant garde designer like Rick Owens, you have to look for clues for understanding the thought process. It appears there is a Mayan influence because of the decorative shapes on the clothing. They also seem ceremonial, especially in the draping. The gilded faces in gold or silver are more than just dramatic elements but suggest importance. The most shocking aspect of the collection, believe it or not, was Owens' use of sequins! Why is that so shocking? As a minimalist, it's a big deal. Also, the last grouping on the runway seemed to be very clean and polished.

Jared Leto Goes Platinum Blonde

Jared Leto made headlines a few days ago when he cut off the ombre and shaved the bushy beard. I thought, "damn, Jared Leto read my Oscars red carpet recap!" But actually, reports came out that he is prepping for the role of Joker in the Suicide Squad.

Just a few hours ago, Jared Leto made headlines again. The man knows how to make a change, that's for sure. Do blonde's really have more fun? Well, when you're a bleached blonde Jared Leto and trending on Twitter, I'd say fuck yeah. He sported a sexy and almost unrecognizable new look in Paris at the Balmain runway show at Paris Fashion Week. References like "pretty boy" and a likeness to Uncle Karl are already being tossed around. Call it what you like, I'll stick with smoking' hot MF.

BTW, Jared Leto upstaged Kim Kardashian who also unveiled a platinum do as well. They were both at Balmain. Sorry Kim, you can't compete with an Oscar winner.

ROCHAS Fall 2015

Rochas can serve me 1930s and 40s glamour anytime. The Fall 2015 collection is reminiscent of an era when women were always classy. And that silhouette, enhanced by the cinched waist, is perfection. The muted and dark color palette surprised us with the occasional burst of sunshine yellow. The swallow was a running motif throughout the collection. The stylized shape of the bird was present in coats, belts and my fave - the dresses. The retro vibes were counter-balanced with sheer fabrics which helped maintain a sense of modernity.

BELSTAFF Women Fall 2015

Belstaff is just hot, simply put. The fall 2015 collection perfectly balances elements of masculinity, rocker, comfort and chic into womenswear. Belstaff's women's creative director Delphine Ninous further drove this appeal by combining hard and soft textiles like leather and silk. Belstaff's interpretation of the modern woman is one who is strong, independent and fearless. And badass, in a classy way.

Kristen Stewart Chanel 11.12 Bag

What is it about Kristen Stewart that intrigues me, I don't know. Karl Lagerfeld does. He's been dressing her in Chanel for years. Uncle Karl shot this latest ad featuring Kristen and the new 11.12 Chanel bag.

"For me the iconic handbag is just like the House of Chanel, fundamental and modern, two qualities not usually shared" Kristen Stewart was quoted as saying.

Art & Sole: Interview with Jane Gershon Weitzman

"Before long, I began to travel around the country looking for artists to make fantasy shoes for our store windows. This book, Art & Sole, is the result of many years of hard work and fun that went into creating those displays." Jane Gershon Weitzman

When your husband is a world famous shoe designer one might think that putting together a coffee table book about shoes is no big thing but for Jane Gershon Weitzman, wife of Stuart Weitzman, it was a labor of love. From the rich, red fabric cover to its gilded edges, Art & Sole represents a stunning collection of "fantasy shoes" and nearly two decades of passionately discovering, collecting and displaying these one-of-a-kind sculptures.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jane about Art & Sole:

Talk about the selection process in curating Art & Sole. How did you narrow down from over one thousand fantasy shoes? “Some of my friends and I looked at the shoes, artist by artist and the best ones were obvious, because we almost always agreed.”

What does your husband think about the book? “Stuart loves the book and is my biggest booster.”

Art & Sole looks lovely on my coffee table. I love it. How & when did you conceptualize making such a book? “Thank you!  After we sold the business, people kept asking me what happened to the shoes. I thought doing a book would be a good way to help make some money for good causes.”

Which fantasy shoes are your favorites? And you can't say all of them! “After spending so much time with some of the artists, it really would be hard to choose favorites. It's sort of like choosing your favorite child. They are all great in different ways.”

Can you share any fun or interesting stories about the shoes? Or the artists? Challenges? “I wouldn't know where to begin, but if I speak in Atlanta again some day, I will make sure that you are invited as my guest. I never did find an artist to make glass shoes. The ones who were good enough never sent the shoes, even after I called them many times.”

Are there any plans for an Art & Sole traveling art exhibit? “Right now there are no plans for a traveling exhibit, but I hope that there will be one day.”

Who is more passionate about shoes? You or Stuart Weitzman? “I love shoes, but Stuart is definitely more passionate about them. He builds shoes from patterns and then decides the materials. Then, he has to make sure that they fit. His reward is seeing them on so many girls and women. When he has time, he stops them and introduces himself and whenever ladies recognize him, they stop him. He really loves what he does!”

Get your copy. Trust me, you will LOVE it!!

The beginning of the end for Fashion Police

kelly-osbourne-fashion-police-fashionado

With the sudden loss of Joan Rivers came so much rumor and speculation as to the fate of her Fashion Police. As a long time fan of Joan Rivers I was devastated with her passing but at the same time I wanted "the show to go on." I was cool with Kathy Griffin taking over as host but confused with George Kotsiopoulos' mysterious departure. I'm starting to enjoy Brad Goreski and once again (totally) confused with the latest news that Kelly Osbourne has quit Fashion Police. Could this be the beginning of the end?

In a statement from E! News the reason given for Kelly's decision to leave the show was because she wanted to "pursue other opportunities." Yeah, yeah - generic, damage control rhetoric.

Perhaps these are just growing pains as Fashion Police re-finds itself? Perhaps an entirely new cast is what's needed? (I apply for the job!) I don't want to see Fashion Police go away so I hope they figure it out soon.
