The Oscars Red Carpet Fashion 2017

A-list beauties everywhere at The Oscars but there was only one real risk-taker and that was Janelle Monae - she gets my best dressed. She wore that Elie Saab gown like a winner. Look through the slideshow above to see my fave picks, and to be clear, these ladies and gents were gorgeous, smashing and glamorous, but I want to see show-stoppers at The Oscars. Of course, one can say that the La La Land / Moonlight fiasco was a show-stopper. Literally!

Emma Roberts in Vintage Giorgio Armani at The Oscars

Red Carpet Green Dress celebrity partner, actress Emma Roberts (“Scream Queens”) showcased a form of sustainable fashion when she arrived at the 89th Academy Awards® wearing a classic Giorgio Armani gown from his very first Prive’ collection. The gown was accessorized with exclusive pieces from Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry. This is the first time vintage fashion has been put under the spotlight by Suzy Amis Cameron’s eco-conscious cause as a solution to help better the environment.
“Red Carpet Green Dress is always researching ways to help improve the planet and the lives of others,” states actress and environmental activist Amis Cameron. “As a culture, we are inundated with messaging of wanting and needing the latest ‘new’ product. But by recycling gowns, we are making the ‘old’ new again and finding the beauty that already exists. It is an important form of sustainability.”
The spaghetti strap couture dress, which originally debuted in Paris in January 2005, is embroidered with cream crystals and waves of small white jet beads featured in a two-tiered skirt. The dramatic plunging bodice is made of jet and black crystal teardrops and is completed with a black satin cummerbund at the waist.
To complete the head-to-toe look Emma Roberts wore exclusive created diamond pieces from Atelier Swarovski’s first fine jewelry collection. Inspired by nature and driven by science, Swarovski brings conscious luxury and innovation to the red carpet with the Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry Collection, handcrafted in a Parisian atelier and featuring Swarovski Created Diamonds and crystals.  Swarovski Created Diamonds are grown in a state-of-the-art lab and have the same optical, chemical and physical attributes as mined diamonds.

To qualify as a Red Carpet Green Dress eco-conscious garment, each piece must either be made from recycled, organic or repurposed materials, use handmade detailing or incorporate natural dye processing. All resources focus on an environmentally and socially responsible design with a minimal negative impact on the environment.
For the 2017 Oscars-inspired campaign, Red Carpet Green Dress partnered with Atelier Swarovski and Earth Friendly Products, maker of ECOS™ Laundry Detergent to help raise funds for MUSE School CA. MUSE School CA is an environmental non-profit educational organization Amis Cameron founded in Calabasas, Calif., with her sister Rebecca Amis. The financial assistance enables students to access a transformative educational experience. MUSE School CA ensures small class size, personalized instruction and learning practices; all set within an inspiring and beautiful campus. Through these key elements, MUSE School CA paves the way in creating leaders of the future.

Award Show Viewing Party Tips from Emmy/Oscar Event Producer Cheryl Cecchetto

With awards season in full swing, millions of Americans will be tuning in to watch their favorite celebrities and there is no one better than Cheryl Cecchetto to give her insider tips and tricks to host the PERFECT VIEWING PARTY as featured in her fascinating new book, Passion to Create - Your Invitation to Celebrate. With humor and candor, Cheryl's book details the collaborative inspiration and challenges of many of her creations, as well as behind-the-scenes drama and hilarity that often comes with the territory.

Cheryl's tips to host the perfect awards night party include:

  • Pick a theme: If you want to host a formal get together suggest guests wear black and white. Themes are not only social, they're fun!
  • Send save the dates: Whether you send them via email or in the mail put all the information on it and tie in with your theme.
  • Play nominated soundtracks: Great to set the mood when your guests arrive and to play before the awards show begins.
  • Champagne for everyone: A splash of bubbly kicks of the celebration or mix pomegranate juice and soda water as a non-alcoholic option.
  • The ballot game: Download and print the big nominated categories and give prizes to the 3 guests who guess the most winners right.
  • Party favors: Who doesn't like party favors? It's the last opportunity to tie in your theme and give your guests a fun parting gift.

The Best Red Carpets of the Year 2014

2014 was a good red carpet year. These lovely ladies enjoyed show-stopping moments and while some of them made worst-dressed lists, they all left a memorable impression. We saw an abundance of glamour, we love that, but we also loved it when the more daring, A-list fashionistas pushed the envelope and challenged the norm. From short rompers to flowing gowns, they brought it.

"Every Dress Worn by Best Actress Academy Award Winners" 1929 - Present (2014)

Now this is a chart I can read! Wow, excellent. Thanks Cosmopolitan UK...This fabulous  infographic by shows every dress worn by the winning Oscar best actress since 1929. The two things I learned from looking at it: 1.) Designer gowns didn't get popular until the 90's; 2.) there have been some really ugly dresses worn. 1978 -1984 will give me fashion nightmares.

The Academy Awards are Sunday. Bring on the red carpet!
