Many will say that backstage at a fashion show is where the real action happens. It does. Backstage is like the backbone of the runway. It's where all the craziness is filtered through to perfection... Moschino captured its Creative Director, Jeremy Scott, models, stylists and celebrities in fabulous backstage fun during their recent FW runway show.

'Lived-In' GAP @ VOGUE for Spring 2014

gap-2014-vogue-fashionado

Get into the Gap never felt better, literally. The iconic brand is returning to it's roots by simplifying the look AND feel of their clothing for Spring. [But that's a great thing!]

You know that t-shirt we all have stashed in our dresser drawer, the one we've had for twenty years and feels like butter -- well, for Spring 2014, Gap'sLived-In" collection will make us all very happy... The name, 'lived-in' says it all. The cottons are softer than ever and Gap's approach 'feels' very authentic by letting go of "trends" and focusing on the purity of the brand that we've all come to love. Vintage shirts, boyfriend shirts, skinny jeans, super-soft tees and lots of lived-in feeling denim.

In an innovative and clever partnership with Vogue Magazine, Gap has created a fabric logo for their pages! More about that in a sec... let's have a preview of Gap's Lived-In collection:

"I'm thrilled that Vogue is the magazine to debut Gap's cutting-edge spring initiative, which uses the page in the magazine to allow the reader to experience the fabric,"

elaborates Susan Plagemann, VP and Publisher of Vogue.

"One more way Gap and Vogue are leading innovation in fashion."

You can see and feel the Gap ad in the March issue of Vogue. And, like me, you can sport the Lived-In look this Spring!

MARCHESA Fall 2014

Marchesa's

Fall 2014 collection was exquisite. But of course, it's Marchesa -- It better be nothing less than exquisite! While I don't entirely buy their "disheveled woman in winter" theme, I can overlook that. The collection is so beautifully layered in skillful techniques, superior fabrics and sumptuous color. I especially liked the draping elements. They were strategic and well-balanced, enhancing the silhouette. With the Oscars around the corner, I wonder which of these looks will hop from runway to red carpet?

Lonely at Lincoln Center: The NEW New York Fashion Week

by Emily Chandler Westergreen

New York Fashion Week

was chilly this year, and I don't mean in

the normal "cold breeze up the short skirted fashionista" kind of way.

There was a definite change in the air in the tents this year. The

usual crazy, fun, nonstop fashion-never-sleeps vibe was missing. Maybe

because those who never sleep for fashion found themselves unable to even

cross the sacred threshold of the twice yearly Fashion Mecca known as Lincoln Center.

The idea from the Fashion Gods Above was to make Lincoln Center "more

exclusive." I have nothing against "More exclusive" (actually it's

kinda my MO!), but the result didn't feel that way. It felt,

well....empty. And lonely. What used to be a meeting place for the

fashion elite, a virtual street style runway complete with its own DJ,

has become a desolate tent occupied by the very boring elite.

Remember the open bar at Bryant Park? Yes, I do, very well as a matter

of fact. After the initial move to Lincoln Center, that was replaced

by an open bar of Kim Crawford wine (again, ok by me). The sadder side

of Lincoln Center offers Diet Coke...and for those of us who don't

like Diet Coke, even better: Frozen Diet Coke.

Have I mentioned a chill in the air?

And the darkness! A black "is it noon or midnight" kind of darkness. A

windowless Vegas casino darkness that makes you ponder weather to stay

for the Badgley Mishka show or crawl in the corner and take a nap on

your Dennis Basso (of course) fur.

So is it more elite? Hardly. The true elite run in through the back

door and out the same door. They never entered the tent in the first place.

Did I feel more special being allowed to enter this sacred space?

Well, yes, I did. But after walking 10 feet inside, I felt a major

letdown. I wished I could click my heels together like Dorothy and say

"there's no place like Fashion Week," and suddenly be transported to,

well...Fashion Week.

You know the one. The Fashion Week that was. The slightly-less-snobby

version of the most snobby event of the year.

CFDA: The Fashion Fund - Vogue on Ovation

My latest tv obsession...

I can't get enough of The Fashion Fund, an original series on Ovation. They are four episodes in, so catch up quickly!! [I did.]

Many of us know of the Council of Fashion Designers of America,

CFDA

and

everyone

knows

VOGUE

Magazine... In this series, we are educated and entertained at that same fabulous time about The Fashion Fund which was created by

Anna Wintour

and Vogue to help young designers move forward. The series lets us see this process from the inside out. It's pretty incredible.

The Fashion Fund on Ovation is better than any fashion reality show on TV. Trust me! AND for those of you as obsessed and intrigued about all things Anna Wintour, as am I, this series is a MUST. The Goddess is all over it and she smiles. A lot!

For the Fashion Cares fans and supporters out there, Jeffrey Fashion Cares' own Jeffrey Kalinsky is a judge on the CFDA panel. We get to see a lot of him too. He's kind of adorable.

Tune in!

JEREMY SCOTT Fall 2014

jeremy-scott-fall-2014-fashionado

The fashion world would be boring as hell without Jeremy Scott in it. Jeremy is one of fashion's bad boys. He's always a little crazy and a lot wild. For Fall 2014, his interpretation of sports uniforms and locker room garb is quite clever. I absolutely love it and I hate sports!

OSCAR DE LA RENTA Fall 2014

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

There's not a whole lot I need to say about Oscar de la Renta. The man is a living icon. A creative genius and master of the runway. His Fall 2014 collection is nothing short of spectacular.

But it's more than that. (As always) Oscar presents a polished, elegant and cohesive collection; however, what speaks volumes of his brilliance is how he manages to maintain youthful and relevant season after season. Keeping it fresh and modern ... it's what separates the men from the boys.
