The Met Gala: "Beyond Fashion" 2014

Sarah Jessica Parker / Oscar de la Renta The 2014 Met Gala is one of my favorite events of the year. Of course, if I'd be invited it would be my very favorite event, ever. So for now, red carpet photos will have to suffice. This year's theme was a tribute to legendary, American couturier Charles James. His tastes went 'beyond fashion.' Guests were encouraged to experiment with major color and decoration. Few really got it, some took it too literal. Either way, it's one of the most glamorous nights of the year.

Katy Perry has become quite the fashionista. She's left behind the cutesy [and tacky] costuming that she's sported for years and has embraced designer fashion. If you watch Fashion Police, as I do, Katy is almost always on the "best dressed" list. SO, it should not be a surprise that Katy Perry turned to the fashion world to create the wardrobe for her Prismatic World Tour. I can't think of a better fit than Jeremy Scott for Moschino

Tom Ford's Chesterfield Florals

Tom Ford delivers the WOW factor in footwear this season. Featuring embroidered silk and topped with a crocodile tassel, this Italian-made shoe is sure to stop traffic. While this work of art is versatile, as I can see wearing it with jeans or a tux, like a work of art, it's uncomprimising in price. But at $3,770 will it hold it's value and appreciate, like art? I once read an article that with humorous sarcasm stated that only millionaires can buy Tom Ford. Yup, I guess I'll admire these from his website.

Gisele Bundchen has a new gig, but don't quit your day job girlfriend!

H&M brought in producer Bob Sinclair to save the day as Gisele attempted to sing. Thank goodness for auto-tune and a good beat. So what's the point and how is H&M involved? Gisele is promoting the retailer's sexy-summer swimwear, something she does quite well. I'm not sure why they decided she had to sing, but her cover of Blondie's Heart of Glass will be released on iTunes on April 29th with proceeds going to UNICEF. It does have a good beat. Really. It does.
