New World Punx unveil “Bang” + official music video...

new world punx

New World Punx, the two-headed monster comprised of Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten, unveils their latest percussion-heavy record “Bang.”

Following New World Punx’ previous slammers “Romper” and “Torque,” the duo’s third original release kicks off with distorted vocal sample chops encouraging listeners to “bang to the beat of the drum” before pounding kicks ricochet into an electro synth breakdown.

The percussion-riddled release is paired with a black-and-white official music video in which the main character runs amuck akin to a 2015 version of “Run Lola Run.”

Both legends in their own rights, Schulz and Corsten’s electrifying chemistry in the studio and behind the decks has seen them effortlessly form of the most exciting and dynamic partnerships in the electronic music scene today. Having already performed at some of the world’s most sought-after festivals including Tomorrowland, Coachella, EDC, Ultra and Stereosonic, New World Punx’ refreshing and fun-loving ethos has stepped up to fill a gaping void in the market that has caught the attention of talent and tastemakers alike.

DJ MAG ANNOUNCES TOP 100 DJS POLL 2015 RESULTS… AND A NEW NO.1 DJ(S)

dimitri vegas like mike djs fashionado

The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll powered by 7UP has a new winner(s). Belgian brothers, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, the first duo to win the annual Poll, were announced at the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF), before performing in front of tens of thousands of dance music fans.

Commenting on the award, Dimitri and Mike said: “Thank you so much! Since day one we’ve put every bit of energy and time we can into our music and our shows in order to give the fans the greatest experience any DJ could offer. So it’s such an incredible honor to receive this award knowing it’s from the guys that matter most to us.”

The pair moved from No.6 to No.2 in the 2014 DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll. During the past year their dominance in the festival scene has been unrivaled, playing Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, Creamfields, and Mysteryland. All 40,000 tickets for the launch of their ‘Bringing The Madness 3.0’ shows at Belgium's Sportpaleis Antwerpen sold out in under 40 minutes; a feat previously only managed by U2, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Michael Jackson. The pair has also sold out 3 forthcoming UK shows, including London’s O2 Brixton Academy.

With their debut artist album in the making, the pair’s recent hit with Ummet Ozcan, ‘The Hum’, is joined by current single, ‘Higher Place’, featuring Grammy award winner Ne-Yo, the track that’s further shown their crossover status. It spent 6 weeks at the No.1 spot in the Belgian Charts, amassed views in excess of 7 million, and was one of the most worldwide Shazamed tracks at this year’s festivals.

For the third consecutive year, the Top 100 DJs Poll Awards powered by 7UP was held at the two-day Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF); returning for the second time to Amsterdam ArenA, the stadium for Ajax football club.

ARMIN VAN BUUREN : "Making music is very organic."

One of the most exciting and most anticipated sets at TomorrowWorld is, without a doubt, Armin van Buuren's. He's seasoned, talented, passionate about music and really loves his fans. It was a thrill for me (being a fan myself) to have the opportunity to sit with Armin just hours before his closing set. He had flown in from the west coast earlier in the day and though he should have been quite tired, you wouldn't have known it. Armin was welcoming, friendly and inspiring. We had a candid chat about EDM, the creative process and playing for massive audiences. Armin van Buuren's latest studio album, Embrace, drops October 29th. Interview with DJ ANDREW RAYEL at TomorrowWorld 2015

andrew-rayel-tomorrowworld-fashionado

DJ / Composer Andrew Rayelwho  is signed with Armada Music, Armin Van Buuren's label, played a dynamic set on the first night of TomorrowWorld. Andrew is young, talented and a classically trained pianist - skills that reflect within the complexity of his beats. Ninety minutes before his set, Andrew and I got a chance to sit and chat about TomorrowWorld, his musical sound and performing live. I also teamed up with my friends at Raannt.com to ask Andrew his feelings about trance.

Celebrity Style: TomorrowWorld Hair Tips

tomorrowworld fashionado

Guys have it easy. Bedhead is a fashion statement for us. So is a shaved head. For a girl, not so much. Sure, it's a double-standard, but it is what it is. So how do you survive three mind-blowing days of TomorrowWorld without a stylist? How do you remain sexy and fresh at all times? Celebrity stylist Max Sanchez of White Salon and Spa breaks it down for us with three absolutely fabulous and easy to do festival hairstyle tips!

How-To Keep Floral Crown In Tact…For Days?
Inspiration: Bella Thorne
- Place your floral crown in a comfortable place
- Spray bobby pins with dry shampoo to prevent slippage (insider tip)
- Criss cross two bobby pins throughout crown to secure in place

How-to create beach waves?
Inspiration: Kate Hudson
- For ultimate results, shampoo the day before you choose to wear your beach waves best
- Your hair’s natural oils will weigh down your scalp appearing your locks to appear greasy; therefore, we recommend applying dry shampoo to the roots
- Use a beach texturizer (our fav: hair resort by Kevin Murphy)
- Shake the waves loose

How-to create pretty plaits?
Inspiration: Jennifer Lawrence
- Prep your braid by brushing throughout to eliminate tangles
- Incorporate gel (our fav: Super Goo by Kevin Murphy) to dry or wet hair while braiding. The gel will polish the hair to have healthy shine and will smooth out fly aways.

There you have it ladies of TomorrowWorld! Rock the waves, plaits and crowns all night long. Thanks Max!

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL, the hit musical celebration of the life and music of the original 1970s “Queen of Disco,” Sylvester, continues to spread “DISCO HEAT” across America, and will next play a special one-night-only performance on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM) at The Variety Playhouse (1099 Euclid Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30307).

Produced by AnthonyKen LLC and Sheryl Lee Ralph/The DIVA Foundation, MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL is written by and stars Anthony Wayne (Pippin, Anything Goes, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and is co-directed by Mr. Wayne and Kendrell Bowman, who also serves as the show’s costume designer.

Sylvester James, Jr. (September 6, 1947 – December 16, 1988), better known as Sylvester, was an American disco and soul singer-songwriter. Known for his flamboyant, androgynous appearance, he became known in the United States as the "Queen of Disco."  Born in Watts, LA, Sylvester developed a love of singing through the gospel choirs of his Pentecostal church, which he left after being persecuted for his homosexuality.  His career started as an early founder of a group of black cross-dressers and trans women known as The Disquotays. After that group disbanded, he moved to San Francisco and embraced the counterculture, joining a drag troupe, The Cockettes, and he eventually produced solo shows heavily influenced by female blues and jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Josephine Baker. Sylvester left the Cockettes to focus on his solo career, and by 1978, his acclaimed album Step II spawned the disco classics "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and "Dance (Disco Heat).”  He released 12 albums in his career, and had several more hits, including “Do Ya Wanna Funk,” and “Can’t Stop Dancing.” An activist who campaigned against the spread of HIV/AIDS, Sylvester died from complications arising from the virus in 1988.  In 2004, "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame, and one year later in 2005, Sylvester himself was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame for his achievement as an artist.

Anthony Wayne and Kendrell Bowman were inspired to create the musical after seeing the “Unsung” documentary about the artist on TV One in 2010.  Moved by his story – by Sylvester’s bravery to openly be who he was in an era in which that was not supported or encouraged by society - Mr. Wayne sought out his music.  Hooked, he discussed Sylvester's music and influence with Mr. Bowman and they both put their talents together with determination to bring the icon's story to the stage.
