alice + olivia's See-Now-Buy-Now LA Runway debuts Grateful Dead collection, draws Emily Ratajkowski, Kourtney Kardashian

The alice + olivia brand, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, held their first ever See-Now-Buy-Now runway show with music by The Dolls and Ana Calderon. The show, held the Wednesday before Coachella, featured the highly anticipated alice + olivia x Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from the Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items are now available at  aliceandolivia.com and neimanmarcus.com

“I hope to inspire consumers worldwide to kick off their festival season with alice + olivia,” said Stacey Bendet, “a See-Now-Buy-Now runway show is something I have been wanting to do for a few seasons but it took time to feel out when and where felt right…I wanted what I showed on that runway to be relevant to what consumers actually want to wear, now. I came up with the idea to have the show around Coachella and have the runway looks be based upon things that every girl would want to wear to a music festival.”

"It is exciting to be involved in the forefront of a new fashion phenomenon with Stacey,” said Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director, Neiman Marcus. “She has always been wildly intuitive, with the ability to anticipate her fashionable customers’ wants and desires. Creating a highly curated, creative, clever, and in-season fashion show, as only Stacey can do, with a Buy-Now-Wear-Now mantra, makes sense for her fashion followers that love and adore what she designs!”

Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus with Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia at the alice + olivia Fall 2016 presentation during New York Fashion Week.

alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet is pleased to announce that the brand, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, will hold their first ever See-Now-Buy-Now runway show on Wednesday, April 13 at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The show, held the Wednesday before Coachella, will feature the highly anticipated alice + olivia x Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from the Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items will be available at www.aliceandolivia.com and www.neimanmarcus.com.

Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, will co-style the runway show with Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia. The runway show will be streamed live from Los Angeles on both alice + olivia’s and Neiman Marcus’ social channels, including Periscope and Facebook Live.

The official announcement of Bendet’s foray into the See-Now-Buy-Now runway follows on the heels of the CFDA’s release of the results of the Boston Consulting Group’s study of the future of New York Fashion Week on its website, www.CFDA.com, earlier this year.

"It is exciting to be involved in the forefront of a new fashion phenomenon with Stacey,” said Ken Downing.

As alice + olivia embarks on the journey to modernizing their brand to match the consumer needs with a festival-themed See-Now-Buy-Now runway show in Los Angeles immediately prior to the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music Festival, the brand embodies the CFDA’s call out of the study, “that deliveries must better match the actual, physical season and our consumers’ behaviors and needs.”

“I hope to inspire consumers worldwide to kick off their festival season with alice + olivia,” said Bendet, “a See- Now-Buy-Now runway show is something I have been wanting to do for a few seasons but it took time to feel out when and where felt right...I wanted what I showed on that runway to be relevant to what consumers actually want to wear, now. I came up with the idea to have the show around Coachella and have the runway looks be based upon things that every girl would want to wear to a music festival.”

New World Punx unveil “Bang” + official music video...

new world punx

New World Punx, the two-headed monster comprised of Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten, unveils their latest percussion-heavy record “Bang.”

Following New World Punx’ previous slammers “Romper” and “Torque,” the duo’s third original release kicks off with distorted vocal sample chops encouraging listeners to “bang to the beat of the drum” before pounding kicks ricochet into an electro synth breakdown.

The percussion-riddled release is paired with a black-and-white official music video in which the main character runs amuck akin to a 2015 version of “Run Lola Run.”

Both legends in their own rights, Schulz and Corsten’s electrifying chemistry in the studio and behind the decks has seen them effortlessly form of the most exciting and dynamic partnerships in the electronic music scene today. Having already performed at some of the world’s most sought-after festivals including Tomorrowland, Coachella, EDC, Ultra and Stereosonic, New World Punx’ refreshing and fun-loving ethos has stepped up to fill a gaping void in the market that has caught the attention of talent and tastemakers alike.

Peace and Love from the Second Row at NYFW!

nyfw the shows fashionado

The 60s have been creeping up on us for the past several seasons, but coming up for Spring 2016, prepare yourself for a virtual Woodstock. Boho, fringe and tie dies were splashed all over the runways, along with that wonderful color orange (which has been back for awhile). So dig back through last seasons Goodwill bag and hang on to that orange jumpsuit that you HAD to have, yet never wore.

Oh orange, how we love thee...but the love is not always returned. Sometimes it's best saved for Tennessee fans or those who had too much fun Saturday night and get to engage in "community beautification." Heavy hitters like Prabal Gurung and Jeremy Scott disagree, so like a good fashionista, I will happily don my head-to-orangeiness, pallor be damned!

Festival Chic couture style has a made a comeback largely in part of the coolness factor of all these big music festivals like Coachella, and the 40-year-old wanna be raver who can afford a $600 designer dress to stand behind the VIP ropes at TomorrowWorld next weekend and sip her rosé. (Which, if all goes well, will be me.)

I watched the Mara Hoffman SS16 RTW show from the second row. Yes, I said SECOND, which would normally be a horror story too tragic to live to tell, but I got to sit directly behind Jenna Lyons, aka "the woman who dresses America." So I embraced my second tier status and the opportunity to chat with the quirky J.Crew goddess, who is just as funny and approachable as you would want her to be. She was intrigued with the concept of Underground Runway. I mean, obviously, why wouldn't she jump at the opportunity to get last season's J.Crew at a fraction of the price? Duh!

So I sat delightfully in the NYFW equivalent of the Titanic's "steerage", hoping to absorb even 1/100th of her quirky mismatched style through osmosis. IT worked! Suddenly I have an urge to wear a full length sequin maxi paired with a flannel button up and topped off with a fur vest. Who cares that it's 92° outside? Apparently the osmosis was so strong it wafted all the way to Atlanta and transferred to my preschool age daughter. You know, come to think of it, that's eerily similar to what she tried to convince me to let her wear last week to soccer practice!
