Jeremy Scott's Winged Shoes

jeremy scott shoes

I LOVE these shoes by Jeremy Scott! They are so much fun. I can see (me) wearing them with a pair of jeans and a blazer. The wings are a trademark for Scott. These shoes are part of a collaboration with Addidas. They are leather with a metallic finish and sport gold laces. At $140, they'll fly right into your closet. There's only one problem (and for me it's major). These shoes are for women! WTF Jeremy Scott?? The largest size would only fit men with small feet. Not me. #fail

The Auction: Penland 2014

I'm honored to be speaking this evening at a private screening of a short film I co-produced about the remarkable Penland Annual Benefit Art Auction. Designer Master Silversmith Julia Woodman, who's featured in the film, will also be talking about her collaboration with glass artist Kenny Pieper and the signature piece they've created for this year's auction. The exquisite tea service (above) by Julia, is in the High Museum's permanent collection. The Penland Annual Benefit Auction is held every August at the beautiful Penland School of Crafts in Western North Carolina.

What I think about the Kimye Vogue Cover

Who cares?!

That's what I think. On Friday, twitter trended with the hashtag #BoycottVogue. Seriously people, get over yourselves.

Personally, I'm not interested in Kim Kardashian. AND don't even get me started on Kanye West- cocky, arrogant, questionable talent, narcissist - trust me, I can go on and on. But then again, I've never met them, probably never will, so my judgement is based on actions, appearances and media interpretations. Except for Kanye's music, it's shit.

So, back to

Vogue

and

Anna Wintour

... THEY can put anyone THEY choose on the cover. Like

them

or NOT,

Kimye are a super-famous, headline-making, fashion-loving power couple. And frankly, I'd rather see Kimye on the cover of Vogue rather than Anna Wintour's pet, Lena Dunham, as I'm sure the make up artists, stylists and photoshoppers feel the same.

Are we going to boycott Vogue? Stop reading Vogue?? Cancel subscription to Vogue??? The answer [and YOU know it] is NO.

Watch a behind-the-scenes video clip with Kimye and the very adorable baby North, on the Vogue set with Annie Leibovitz.

DEMI STYLES

... and this is How I DO My Style

I've been doing "it" this way for years and there's no real science to it. I simply place clothing on my bed and play match-maker with an ensemble. I usually start with one article of clothing that I def want to wear and I style the outfit around that. In this case it was the gray sweater vest. I wanted to dress up the look so I passed on wearing jeans and opted for navy trousers. A fitted blazer, Gucci loafers and a silk pocket square completed the look. Because I was wearing grays and blues, this was an "easy" outfit to style. Matching up colors, prints and patterns elevate the challenge. We'll talk about that some other time. For now, the take away is to work around a single piece of clothing and build from there. Oh and lay things out. Standing in your closet thumbing through hangers and hangers (and they better be wooden btw!) can overwhelm.
