The Best of Menswear: Pitti Uomo Streetstyle 2015

Italy, for the most part, is a pretty stylish country, but twice a year, the most dapper, trendsetting men gather in Florence for Pitti Uomo. (Except for me. I'm stuck in Atlanta, what-the-fuck?!) So, I have to rely on images, like the ones above, by acclaimed photographer Tommy Ton, to see what I'm missing. Simply put, Pitt Uomo is a tradeshow featuring over 430 vendors showcasing the latest in menswear, accessories, new designers and new projects. It's a few days of sartorial heaven.

The premier offering will provide guests an unparalleled opportunity to isolate and experience the quality and variety of Napa Valley appellations and will serve as one of the most lucrative tour and tasting experiences in the Napa Valley.

“Everything other than appellation is constant – the vintage, winemaking team, winemaking approach, technology in the vineyard and cellar; the only variable to experience is the appellation,” says President Mike Reynolds.  

Set in the Rutherford hills overlooking Napa Valley, HALL’s Appellation Exploration includes a one-of-a-kind wine tasting showcasing the effects of terroir, climate and elevation and a private tour through the acclaimed 100-point Sacrashe vineyard. All wines are paired with seasonal food prepared by local notable chefs.

The experience begins with a tour of HALL Rutherford’s state-of-the-art production facility. Guests are then escorted through the cave’s tunnel for a barrel tasting of HALL’s flagship Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon wine surrounded by reclaimed bricks and limestone from Austria’s Hapsburg era dating back to the 14th-20th centuries. Guest are then guided to the spectacular Chandelier Cave adorned with dazzling Swarovski crystals for a seated tasting of four appellation designated wines where guests will have the rare opportunity to purchase these wines based on an allocation and sign up for HALL’s coveted wine club. The 90-minute experience also showcases owner’s Craig and Kathryn Hall’s contemporary art collection curated by Virginia Shore, Shore Art Advisory. This new offering books months in advance and is $125pp.

Tom Ford Men AW15

If the 2015 menswear collection by Tom Ford doesn't inspire us to keep working hard at the gym to maintain a lean physique, nothing will. There are so many things I absolutely love about this collection. Let's start with the range. Tom Ford gave us everything from suits to jeans. He paired suits up with clean, crisp sneakers - perfection. And then there were the denim and leather ensembles to show just a hint of the bad boy in all of us. It's difficult to choose a fave within all the looks but I have to admit that the Op Art-esque tuxedo jackets are a dream. What I love the most about Tom Ford is not a singular article of clothing but rather the collective image the designer creates from head-to-toe.

Burberry Prorsum 2015 Runway

"Classically Bohemian" is what designer Christopher Bailey called his collection for Burberry Prorsum - "I'd wear every single piece" is what I call it! Such a rich collection of prints and patterns like leopard, camo, florals and paisley. Lots of texture, lots of layering. Scarves, ponchos and shawls. I was especially drawn to the pants. They are slightly drop-crotch yet still slim cut to the ankle. Comfortable and on trend at the same time.

A new era begins at Maison Martin Margiela as John Galliano makes his Debut / Spring 2015 Couture

John Galliano is back. He's found a new home at Maison Martin Margiela where he debuted an Artisanal show that featured (and proving once again) the creative genius that is Galliano. He seamlessly -no pun intended- balanced abundance, minimalism and deconstruction. The looks were edgy and avant-garde but still flirted with enough glamour to tease us. Galliano showcased his talents and expertise through his technical use of fabrics, textiles and embellishments. One of my favorite elements, which is so inherently John Galliano, is his mastery and perception of the unconventional and unexpected. For example, some of the dresses were encrusted with lacquered shells to create faces, reminiscent of the artist Arcimboldo. You don't notice it right away, but when you do, there's a wow-factor. It's this combination of beauty and intellect that is so captivating and leaves us wanting more.

John Galliano is sharp, focused and I'd say refueled and redeemed. I expect a new, exciting and amazing future for Margiela.

Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man.  With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need.  What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

In Splash, Darryl Hannah called herself “Madison” after seeing a street sign; Robin Williams chose the moniker “Mrs. Doubtfire” after reading the newspaper headline “Police Doubt Fire Was Accidental;” and Jan Brady invented her fictional boyfriend “George Glass” after spying a glass of water on the table. In the upcoming film The Wedding Ringer (opening in theaters nationwide this Friday, Jan. 16), Kevin Hart’s alter ego is “Bic Mitchum,” a name inspired by a tube of Mitchum deodorant. Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting’s character, Gretchen Palmer, becomes suspicious after discovering Mitchum deodorant in the medicine cabinet next to a pack of razors.

Golden Globes 2015 Red Carpet Fashion

The 2015 Golden Globes red carpet sparkled and shimmered with a never ending fashion wave of glamour and couture. There were very few misses and even then, they weren't disastrous. By the same token, there were really no show-stopping red carpet moments. Except for Jennifer Lopez who wore a super-fashion hero cape. Julianne Moore, who is one of my regular faves, did not disappoint in a shimmery, feathered Givenchy and "it" girl Felicity Jones in Dior Couture. I also loved Lorde in a two-piece Narciso Rodriguez. She seemed happy and comfortable with herself, even sporting red lipstick - a welcomed and chic departure from the gothy dark! 

Some of the ladies who missed the mark were, but not limited to, Lena Dunham, Claire Danes and Kerry Washington. But the most offensive had to be Keira Knightly. She looked like a sister-wife on a FDLS cult date night. Uncle Karl what were you thinking?

The men, well most of them, brought it. Sharp, classic, dapper and debonair in their fitted black tie. However, Kevin Hart's blazer with piping was so 2009, stop it! But the worst one of all, though not surprising, was Alan Cumming. The color, fit and shoes were just plain ugly and he buttoned both buttons of his blazer - a huge no no!
