Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2016 / Recap & Photos

24th Annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares - An Unforgettable Evening of Fashion and Philanthropy

For 2016, Kalinsky once again joined Event Chairs Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams in producing an unforgettable evening for Atlanta’s most stylish.  Attendees mixed and mingled at pre-show cocktail reception while they bid on an array of luxury items including timeless jewelry, watches and must-have handbags. After guests took their seats, a high-energy live auction featuring once in a lifetime experiences led up to a stunning runway show featuring Kalinsky’s style selections from high-end designers such as Lanvin, Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino, Dries van Noten, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik. Last year’s sold-out event raised $700,000 for Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta and the Atlanta AIDS Fund (AAF).

Jeffrey Fashion Cares Runway Overview - Fashion Flash 2016:

Elegance is an attitude as well as an appearance. This year, however, the theme mirrors more casual lifestyles, relevant for today’s busy women. The selection has been carefully chosen from our favorite designers of the coming season.

The basic look will be an oversized street style. It will be highlighted by designers Vetements and Marques Almeida. We continue to see the exaggeration in fit and tailoring to complement the puffiness of this comfortable trend.

Along with this new image, we have a found a velvet goldmine, showcased by designers using this rich fabric as a revival of a revered fabric chosen by royalty.

Celine impresses us with wearable garments, conceptual shapes, tunics worn overflared pants, with variations of outerwear as well. Brandon Maxwell empowers women with striking sexy, sculpted silhouettes that accent today’s evening wear.

Our key elements of oversizing are seen in parkas, capes, bomber jackets, furs and shearlings for a splendid season this fall.

Exclusive: Runway Preview to Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2016

Saint Laurent Paris Jeffrey Fashion Cares / Photos by Tomas Espinoza

"Does it look too vintage? Hand me the YSL clutch... yeah, that's better..." AND then, Jeffrey Kalinsky proceeded to direct the young model on how to hold the clutch and a flawless runway look was born.

It was such a privilege to spend time within the inner sanctum of the Jeffrey Fashion Cares show fittings and runway line-up process. Jeffrey and his team are perfectionists. Their approach is similar to that of an art curator laying out and important exhibition. Every single minute styling detail is considered - every shoe, every belt, every bag - until a complete and impeccable look is achieved and met Jeffrey Kalinsky's creative and clear-cut vision of his brand.

The line-up features more than three dozen looks - the latest runway showstoppers from high end designers such as Givenchy, Simone Rocha and Saint Laurent Paris will turn heads on Monday, August 29 at Phipps Plaza. There is lots of color and texture in the show as well as all black, all chic looks. And let's not forget the parade of traffic-stopping, to-die-for footwear!

Jeffrey Fashion Cares will be spectacular. It always is, but as I witnessed this week "always" is not taken for granted. The Jeffrey Fashion Cares runway is a fine-tuned, well-thought and meticulously planned production.

Cobbler Union Opens at Ponce City Market

BESPOKE-INSPIRED, LUXURY MEN’S SHOEMAKER COBBLER UNION TO OPEN SECOND RETAIL STORE IN ATLANTA’S PONCE CITY MARKET

cobbler union

On Thursday, September 1st, two-year-old Atlanta-based shoemaker Cobbler Union will open their second brick-and-mortar retail location on the second floor of Ponce City Market.

Small-batch, luxury men’s shoe brand Cobbler Union is the result of two life-long friends and a cobbler who embarked on a journey to bring luxury shoes to men around the world. After spending three years at a shoemaking studio in Barcelona that sold their product for around $4,000 a pair, they were dissatisfied with the high-price point and lack of accessibility associated with luxury, bespoke shoes. They aimed to utilize their skilled craft and create a brand that appealed to a wider audience. Thus, Cobbler Union was born – a new type of luxury company rooted in the high standards of shoemaking but designed to offer men the highest quality shoes at accessible prices, starting at $395. The brand recognizes the role that shoes play in a man’s life, and it is their belief that beautifully crafted, quality shoes have the power to transform.

After two years of success in e-commerce and a year of brick-and-mortar retail at their Inman Park location, Cobbler Union will open in a 1,037-square-foot showroom – double the size of their exiting location – within Ponce City Market.

“Jamestown spent a lot of time and energy to preserve the beauty and legacy of the Sears, Roebuck and Co. building with the vision of Ponce City Market. This same kind of passion for legacy and attention to details is what we obsess over at Cobbler Union. Our goal - to help preserve the art and craft of shoemaking while providing men around the world with exquisite shoes - will fit in well within the walls of PCM. Cobbler Union and Ponce City Market both opened their doors for the first time two years ago and we very much look forward to growing together with them.” – Stephen Beehler, Cobbler Union co-founder.

Cobbler Union will continue to honor and replicate the uniqueness of the bespoke experience at the new location with features such as their made-to-order (MTO) program, belt-cutting display and weekly Sip n’ Shine events. With the MTO program, customers will be able to shop existing styles and transform them to their liking by selecting the leather and sole to create their own unique, one-of-a-kind creation. In effort to showcase the quality of craftsmanship, there will be a table in-store where they will feature the cutting of leather belts. In addition, Cobbler Union at Ponce City Market will host a weekly Sip n’ Shine event, every Thursday evening from 6PM - 8PM, inviting customers and friends to shop, get their shoes shined and have a drink.

Cobbler Union at Ponce City Market will celebrate their soft opening on Friday, September 1st, host their fist Sip n’ Shine event on Thursday, September 15th, and a grand opening event on Thursday, September 29th.
