CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2014/15

No one does haute couture like Chanel. Here is the full video to the latest show at the Grand Palais in Paris. The closing is as always so fabulously dramatic - so if you're going to skip, skip towards the end... just sayin! Psst... I spy Kendall Jenner... can you?

Glamazons Invade Jeffrey!

Oscar de la Renta, Jeffrey Atlanta As I walked through Phipps Plaza yesterday, working my way to Jeffrey, I spotted a tall, young, beautiful glamazon in short shorts, hair pulled back and holding very high heels in hand. But, that walk ... I can spot a runway model a mile away, or in this case 100ft. Then I see another. And another. They were leaving the exact place I was going to. I thought to myself, "whoa, if these are the models being cast for Jeffrey Fashion Cares, it's going to be one hell of a show!"

Jeffrey Atlanta GM, Don Purcell, Jeffrey Buyer, Philip Manghisi and Randi Layne of Catwalk Productions ran a tight ship. I've never been to a more organized [and civilized] model casting in Atlanta. Like ever! Models arrived in shifts, signed in, met the "panel" and walked for them.

Models were asked to walk with a smile - something you rarely see on runways!

As I stood there watching, I visualized these "girls" in Dior, Givenchy, Oscar... it was an excitement builder... [I can't wait for] Jeffrey Fashion Cares on August 25th. *Tickets went live this week and are selling fast, so hurry and secure yours!! {TICKETS} Bring a friend - #PreventionInPairs

BUT if you haven't, watch my video and then CLICK HERE to purchase your tickets! YES! Tickets to the biggest, baddest fashion show in Atlanta are live TODAY! For details about Jeffrey Fashion Cares ... For its 22nd anniversary, Jeffrey Fashion Cares is encouraging Atlantans to believe in power in numbers and support this year’s theme, Prevention in Pairs. Once again embarking on a mission to raise as much awareness and funds as possible for its beneficiaries, Susan G. Komen for the Cure—Greater Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta AIDS Fund (AAF), Jeffrey Fashion Cares wants patrons to grab a friend and join them in honor of two great causes at the 2014 fashionable affair that will be held on  Monday, August 25th at the American Cancer Society Center in Downtown Atlanta.

“It always takes two to move through a difficult illness like AIDS or breast cancer, so we figured what better theme to celebrate our 22nd Jeffrey Fashion Cares and help our beneficiaries!” says Lila Hertz, 2014 Event Co-Chair.

The official kick-off to the fall social season, Jeffrey Fashion Cares was founded by Jeffrey Kalinsky, arbiter of style and creator of two namesake boutiques in Atlanta and Manhattan. This year, Kalinsky will once again join Event Chairs Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams in producing what promises to be one of the most exciting affairs yet. Attendees are invited to enjoy a pre-show cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a live auction and runway show featuring Kalinsky’s style selections from high-end designers such as Lanvin, Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Erdem, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik. Last year’s sold-out event raised over $700,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure—Greater Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta AIDS Fund (AAF), and in its history, Jeffrey Fashion Cares has grown into one of the largest combined AIDS and breast cancer benefits in the country.

Christian Dior Fall 2014 Couture

Raf Simons took Dior on a redefining time-travel journey for Fall 2014 couture. From Marie Antoinette silhouettes to astronaut-ish silk jumpers, Dior's creative director may have been making a greater statement about the future of not only the legendary maison but of haute couture in general. In the simplest terms, as our world changes, inevitably so must everything in it. Haute Couture must evolve. But this evolvement doesn't come without its share of controversy and criticism. Some believe Raf Simons has simplified couture too much in an attempt for modernization - Making it too casual. Perhaps he's thinking of the next generation of clientele? A younger class of the elite uber-rich who've grown up in the same fast-paced, technological society that we have. As for Dior's Fall couture collection, it's beautiful. There are some very choice pieces with lavish embroidery and full length furs. Even with its modernity, couture will remain an exclusive club for a specific client base. View Collection:

Vivienne Westwood: VIRGIN ATLANTIC

Richard Branson & Vivienne Westwood
Richard Branson & Vivienne Westwood

Richard Branson enlisted the designer talents of the legendary Vivienne Westwood to create the uniforms for Virgin Atlantic Airways. Function and form don't always play well together in fashion so the challenge Westwood faced was to design uniforms that could "perform" and still look fashionable. Looks like she's achieved just that, but to make sure, 180 Virgin Atlantic flight attendants, pilots and agents were selected to wear the new looks for a trial run. The men's uniforms boast a British sartorialist approach - very Savile Row. The ladies have a variety of styles to choose. From silhouette-flattering suits that enhance their femininity to a more casual and modern option like the tunic and black jeans. So cool!

Take a look at the designs.

Elie Saab Couture Fall 2014

Such beauty from Elie Saab. While he is a master of elegance and sophistication, this season, it appears that Saab ramped up the glam even higher. As if that were even possible. This is an exquisite collection. A-list Hollywooders [or their stylists] will be fighting over these gowns next red-carpet season. There were plenty of short dresses too. They were as beautiful as the gowns.

How to ROCK Suspenders

E. Vincent Martinez
E. Vincent Martinez

I wear silk suspenders, black, with my tuxedo. They are elegant and debonair but you never really see them unless I remove the jacket - which I've been known to do. What about when "we" want to break away from the traditional? When suspenders function more for personal style than necessity...  You've got your clip ons and, like in these photos, button types. Obviously you'll need the appropriate pants for those. I'm wearing trousers from the Heritage Collection by Banana Republic. [Great pants btw!]

To achieve an edgier look, I hemmed the pants to expose just a little ankle and I wore a fitted t-shirt to reveal and showcase my fully tatted sleeves. The suspenders added a cool-funky vibe to my outfit and the scarf, also from Banana Republic, completed the look.

For a "retro-punk" feel, I could have dropped the suspenders and just let them hang. But that's not me.

You can incorporate suspenders into your wardrobe with almost any look. Plaid or solid button down shirts - roll up your sleeves, tees, and jeans all work very well. Dress up your look with leather shoes, wing tips are great. Or dress down with your favorite kicks, like All Stars. Preppy, punk, hipster or dapper - it's all yours for the takin'.
