French Chic from Les Copains Fall 2016 RTW

Les Copains, the Italian label with a  French name is deep-rooted in its history of luxurious knitwear. This collection serves as evidence. Rich and luxurious textures from the finest textiles came in the form of oversized and asymmetrical "outerwear." Beautifully designed, exquisitely created. Synonymous with knitwear is  the Les Copains elevated level of chic. There is a 1940's elegance present here. It's so very sophisticated and epitomizes femininity. [I love] when designers reference the past but keep the look and feel modern. The wind-blown hair and the layers of sheer work seamlessly with the retro-elegance of Les Copains.

Fashion Kills at Moschino Fall 2016

Jeremy Scott sent out an army of "bonfire" survivors of the most elegant kind for Moschino Fall 2016. What did they survive? A revolt against the Renaissance by a rogue group of monks who went on a burning rampage of art, books and clothing. Fast-Forward to 2016 and of course, Jeremy Scott put his artistic spin on it by playing off smoke and burning motifs through the iconic Marlboro cigarette box and logo. This time, the warning read: "Fashion Kills."

Jeremy Scott brings his tongue & cheek humor and his love of clever puns to Moschino season after season. The setting and runway was lavish and gilded to convey the opulence of the Renaissance. The fashion was an eclectic mix of biker, 80's and red carpet gowns. He gave us lots of leather and short ruffled dresses at the beginning of the collection. As looks continued to come out, they got very dressed up. Some of the gowns reminded me (a little) of Alexis and Crystal, after the Carrington manor burned down of course. How else would we explain the burnt-through fabrics? Some of the dresses were even propped to release smoke. Amazing. You could literally say Moschino fall 2016 was smokin'!! Fabulous milliner Stephen Jones created the headgear. I love the collection but I really LOVE the last group of dresses and the dramatic poses.

Burberry Fall 2016 London Fashion Week

Is Burberry appealing to a younger audience? It looks like... and they've gone about it in a very clever way - styling. As I look over this collection and strip away the patterned tights and funky-fab shoes, the collection becomes quite adaptable to everyone. Designers need to broaden their client base while maintaining their patrons. Burberry has done it very well. The rock-n-roll hair, Brit-style, is cool and the homage to the iconic David Bowie / Ziggy Stardust is something we've been seeing this season (and makes me happy) I heart Bowie. Now what about the clothing... There was definitely a 70's rock-glam vibe which was so fitting. Some of the standout pieces for were the coats. All amazing but two specifically - an olive green one with bright red piping and one in python. Gorgeous. The patterned sequin mini-dresses were pretty, sassy and very chic. A definite must-have for your Fall wardrobe. And like Burberry, you can rock 'em out with a pair of badass boots.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2016 RTW

Do not wake me from this dream. This dream, also known as the Alexander McQueen ready-to-wear collection for Fall 2016, is dreamy, fantastic and has the characteristic attributes of haute couture. I wonder how much of an influence was Sarah Burton's pregnancy in this collection, if even just subliminally - but definitely on a surrealistic level. The collection is just so beautiful. It's unequivocally Alexander McQueen yet still carries a perfect balance and harmony with Sarah Burton's perspective to the brand. There is an intrinsic hardness to the black leather dresses at the beginning of the show that is reinforced by their powerful silhouette but beautifully softened by the exquisitely hand-painted butterflies. As the collection evolves, it continues to soften through the use of luxurious lace, tulle a feathers. The final dresses are an absolute dream. The crystals and beadwork are heavenly. Out-of-this-world and mesmerizing. I would love to see one of them lined and worn to the upcoming Oscars.
