Atlanta Among Most Facial Hair Friendly Cities

Men’s grooming leader Wahl is on a mission to find the best facial hair in the country and research shows Atlanta is one of the best places to look. As the Official Sponsor of Facial Hair, Wahl is bringing its 30-foot mobile barbershop to the 10 Most Facial Hair Friendly Cities in America and 4th ranked Atlanta is up next.

From August 13-14, 2016, Wahl’s Facial Hair Friendly Cities Tour will be at the Piedmont Park Arts Festival. Master barbers will offer FREE facial hair trims while seeking out the guy with the best scruff to sponsor as Wahl Man of Atlanta. That guy will go on to compete for the ultimate title of Wahl Man of the Year. The tour also supports a good cause. For every facial hair trim performed, Wahl will donate $1 to ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer.

“When you’re in the business of celebrating great facial hair like we are, it helps to have a compass,” said Steven Yde, division vice president for Wahl, the Official Sponsor of Facial Hair. “Identifying the most facial hair friendly cities in America not only supports our mission of finding and promoting great facial hair, but it lets guys know where their anti-clean-shaven lifestyle is most welcome.”

To determine the Most Facial Hair Friendly Cities in America, Wahl partnered with market research leader Opinion Research Corporation. The study included in-depth analysis of the online universe over the past year for beard and mustache positivity. Conversations and searches surrounding facial hair were measured, and the top cities were ranked based on overall interest and positive sentiment.

Searching for Best Facial Hair Specimen

Dubbed the ‘mane’ event, the Wahl Man of the Year contest gives facial hair enthusiasts the chance to go mano a mano in a facial hair face-off. Wahl will select one guy from each tour stop location and one guy from online entries. These lucky few will be crowned champion of their city and go on to compete for the ultimate in facial hair glory, Wahl Man of the Year title.

The 10 finalists will each win $500 and a Lithium Ion+ Stainless Steel Trimmer. Online voting will help determine who wins the Grand Prize, which includes the coveted title of Wahl Man of the Year, $1,500 and being featured in a national advertisement.

The contest runs through Sept. 25, 2016, and men can enter by visiting Wahl’s Mobile Barbershop, or by uploading a picture to the Wahl Grooming Facebook page. For more information about Wahl’s Facial Hair Friendly Cities Tour, or Wahl Man of the Year Contest, visit OfficialSponsorOfFacialHair.com.

The Alton Lane Experience

My Alton Lane experience began with a bourbon on the rocks and a friendly conversation with Alton Lane style expert Calvin Fields. I learned that we would be alone for the fitting because Alton Lane operates by appointment only. There's much to be said about 100% undivided attention. It's all about you at Alton Lane.

Before taking measurements, Calvin and I chose the specifics of [my] shirt. Everyone can be a designer at Alton Lane - [you] choose the textile, print, collar spread, pocket - no-pocket, cuff style, you name it! And if it gets a little overwhelming making so many decisions, no worries because Calvin knows his "stuff" and will guide you all the way. Two special features that are included with their service is the option to choose an accent fabric for the inside of your cuffs and the embroidering of your initials.

Now it was time for the fitting. Alton Lane handles your measurements in three different ways for maximum accuracy. Their clothing will truly fit you impeccably. Calvin took my measurements the traditional way, with a measuring tape. Then we went high-tech, for real! Alton Lane uses a 3D body scanner that takes your measurement, head-to-toe. You stand still for 30 seconds and allow the camera's to do its thing. Lastly, just to back all this up, I put on a sample shirt. This allowed Calvin to take even more precise measurements for the best, most custom fit possible.

My shirt will be ready in about two weeks or so. I'll return to Alton Lane (in the afternoon so I can enjoy another bourbon) and Calvin will conduct one final fitting.

Most of us shop off the rack. I promise you, nothing compares to custom tailored clothing. If you're thinking this is a luxury outside your realm, check out the Alton Lane website and think again!

Book an appointment with Calvin Fields (888.800.8616)... start with a shirt, play it safe if you wish... but you'll be hooked and move up to a suit or tuxedo next.
