AIRSTREAM: America's World Traveler

People who travel via Airstream get to see more of the world than folks who fly or take the train. Here we see one traveler looking at beautiful Sveti Stefan, an island connected by causeway to the mainland in Montenegro about four miles southeast of Budva.

The always-popular Ford Country Squire station wagon was another ideal tow vehicle in the 1960’s and 1970’s. This 1967 model is towing anAirstream in beautiful Hawaii!

For those with less time on their hands a quick trip to Florida was always a easy choice to make. Imagine parking your trailer right on the beach,with sand and palm trees all around you. The white sports car barely visible to the right is an early 1960’s Fiat.

Always a popular tourist destination, Taos, New Mexico gives visitors a look at an ancient civilization, with local Native Americans on hand to introduce newcomers to the Pueblo Indian culture. This photo was taken during the mid-1970’s.

The most luxurious Airstream, the Limited, even came with folding chairs bearing the Limited name.  

Here’s the exterior view of the Airstream Funeral Coach, circa 1982. It was a decent idea, having one vehicle that could take the place of several.The flowers went into the rear hatch area, as shown, while the casket went into the side carrier space. Mourners rode inside the spacious passenger compartment, which was nicely trimmed and featured individual seats plus a couch at the rear.

Airstream: America's World Traveler celebrates the eight decades since the first Airstream graced America's highways.Airstream chronicles the fascinating history of Airstream trailers through a detailed history, stories, and beautiful photography. Although its roots stretch back to 1926, the first Airstream-brand trailers were introduced in 1931, just as America was emerging from the dark days of the Great Depression. Of the 400 travel-trailer manufacturers of that era, only Airstream survived. Dubbed the "Airstream Clipper"after the first trans-Atlantic seaplane, the 1931 Airstream featured a unique lightweight aluminum body that cut down on wind resistance, improved fuel efficiency, and made for easier towing. It slept four, carried its own water supply, was fitted with electric lights, and cost $1,200. The Airstream provided travelers with away to see the world at their leisure and in solid comfort. It was the perfect vehicle fora country emerging from a long struggle.In the eight decades since that first Airstream, the company has produced some of the finest trailers in the world and gained a worldwide reputation as the Rolls-Royce of travel trailers. The Airstream story is one of travel, adventure, and memories that last a lifetime.

Gigi Hadid wears the “Marianne” hat, by hat maker Gladys Tamez Millinery, in New York City while stepping out in public for the first time in weeks with boyfriend Zayn Malik.

Los Angeles based Gladys Tamez designed the moss green bespoke hat for Gigi Hadid as a “paparazzi protector”. Look for Kendall Jenner to be stepping out herself soon in her bespoke “Ernest” cap in the coming days.

Super models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid led a star and stylist packed first week at Gladys Tamez Millinery’s just opened appointment only bespoke atelier in Los Angeles. Celebrity hat maker Gladys Tamez hosted two of her biggest fans for four hours of laughs and hats as Kendall and Gigi got custom bespoke hats for the summer season and beyond.  Kendall is a big supporter of the hats and can be seen frequently in Gladys Tamez Millinery creations.

Gladys Tamez Millinery recently announced the opening of its flagship bespoke atelier, located in the Arts District in downtown, Los Angeles. The 4000 square foot space combines Gladys Tamez Millinery's design and hat making production atelier, with contemporary art from art dealer Esthella Provas and Assoc and modern furniture by Minotti.

Gladys Tamez’ work is currently on the cover of GQ magazine men's style issue, worn by bespoke client Future Hendrix. Gladys Tamez Millinery has been profiled in a Vogue Latin America and named as one of the 50 most creative Mexicans in the world by Forbes Mexico.

The Miura Tour, the biggest Miura rally organized by Automobili Lamborghini in celebration of the iconic Lamborghini model’s fiftieth anniversary, concluded in Florence with a display in Piazza Ognissanti.

Twenty brightly-colored Lamborghini Miuras from the United States, Japan and other European countries came to Italy for a 500 km journey, taking in the cities of Bologna, Parma, Portovenere, Viareggio, Lucca and Florence between 8 and 12 June. At the stopover in Sant’Agata Bolognese on 9 June, the vehicles' arrival was celebrated with a flyby of four Eurofighters from the 36th Stormo Caccia (fighter squadron) of the Gioia del Colle airbase near Bari in southern Italy. The new, completely renovated Lamborghini Museum was also inaugurated on the same occasion.

Two of the Miura ‘fathers’ made special appearances during the tour: Paolo Stanzani joined guests in Bologna on 8 June, and Gian Paolo Dallara greeted the group at his company in Varano de’ Melegari on the 9th. The Tour concluded on 12 June in Florence, where the 20 Miuras were put on display at the parc fermé in Piazza Ognissanti.

The 50th anniversary celebrations for the Miura will continue in the UK from 23 to 26 June at the prestigious setting of Goodwood Festival of Speed and in August at the Monterey Car Week in the USA.
