George Takei, Lea Salonga, and Telly Leung Go Glam for November's Vanity Fair, Wearing Malan Breton

To celebrate the opening of the Broadway show "Allegiance", starring George Takei, Lea Salonga, and Telly Leung, Vanity Fair will feature a high fashion spread photographed by Luke Fontana, and styled by George Brescia, showcasing each actor wearing internationally acclaimed fashion designer Malan Breton. Shot at New York's YouTube studios the editorial exhibits a classic Hollywood look with art direction by Mitch Dean.

When Mr. Breton was asked how he felt learning these lifelong icons would be gracing the magazine in his designs, he simply bowed his head in gratitude, smiled, and said with a tear in his eye, he wished them success on Allegiance, and the Broadway opening.

"Allegiance" the musical is "Inspired by the true-life experience of its star George Takei ("Star Trek," "Heroes"), Allegiance follows one family's extraordinary journey in this untold American story.

A mysterious envelope leads Sam Kimura (Takei) back 60 years to a time when he (played as a young man by Telly Leung - Godspell, "Glee") and his sister Kei (Tony Award-winner Lea Salonga - Miss Saigon, Mulan) strive to save their family from the wrongful imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II. Sam enlists in the army to prove the Kimuras' loyalty, but Kei joins draft resisters fighting for the rights of their people.

Their paths take them from the lush farmlands of California to the wastelands of Wyoming to the battlefields of Europe, and their divided loyalties threaten to tear them apart forever. But as long-lost memories are unlocked, Sam finds that it is never too late to forgive and to recognize the redemptive power of love.

The garments much like the musical are rooted in rich history, each hand constructed garment is made of hand woven material. Mr Breton, mentored by the late Arnold Scaasi, crafts his gowns using old world techniques taught to the couturiers of the past century. This careful construction gives a perfect fit each time, as witnessed in the image of Ms. Salonga in his papillon gown. Each of the menswear pieces are crafted with the philosophy of fit, quality, and construction, Mr. Breton learned from Paul Cuss at a British heritage brand famous for shirting the Prince of Wales.

RAGTRADE ATLANTA 2015 RECAP

PHOTOS: Kennyatta Collins. Fashion Photographer for Premier XI Photography

The Atlanta fashion scene exploded at last week's second annual RAGTRADE ATLANTA fashion event. Five emerging designers, accompanied by two student designers from the Art Institute of Atlanta, a Ragtrade partner, presented impressive and exciting runway collections. Art Institute designers, Zonia Santander and Andre Bryson gave us a glimpse of the talent within the Art Institute of Atlanta with a mini-collection of five sensational looks each. Brendan M Combs opened the designer showcase with an edgy and futuristic collection, followed by the chic and sophisticated style of Sylvia Mollie. Returning Ragtrade designer, Natt Taylor wowed the audience with her asymmetrical peplums and Zachary/Nathaniel took us to a place of dark glamour and haunted beauty. Closing the runway, Edmond Newton, who is killing it on the current season of Project Runway, gave us one sleeved looks, sheers and flowing dresses. America's Next Top Model, Bello Sanchez and his baby blues, graced the runway for both Brendan M Combs and Zachary/Nathaniel.

Ragtrade Atlanta is leaving its mark on the city and earning its place as a valuable resource for emerging design talent through a series of year-round industry events. The Ragtrade Atlanta showcase on October 14th held at the Georgia Freight Depot was a sold-out event. It brought together a diverse group of designers, sponsors, partners and guests, proving that fashion is global, transcending boundaries, unifying lives and embracing differences. Ragtrade Atlanta was a celebration of fashion, art and culture. Keep an eye on them as they continue to grow and evolve, Ragtrade Atlanta may very well be "Fashion's Next Voice."

The Peter Mui Tattoo Art Collection At Auction in NYC

More Than One Thousand Works Of Original Tattoo Art to Be Sold November 13-14

New York City-based auction house Guernsey’s, well-known for producing many unusual auctions, will be conducting an unprecedented auction of the Peter Mui Collection of Original Tattoo Art this November 13-14 in the heart of lower Manhattan’s trendy Meatpacking District at 22 Little West 12th Street. The late Mr. Mui was a highly-regarded fashion designer, actor, and musician; the sale is being conducted on behalf of his family.

The Mui Collection, which will be sold in more than one thousand unreserved lots, is believed to be the largest collection of original Tattoo Art by what many consider to be the world's most accomplished Tattoo artists. For over fifteen years Mui traveled the globe, seeking out the top Tattoo masters of every style. His collection consists of original works on art board, canvas, and paper by noteworthy artists such as Japan's Horiyoshi III, Horitomo, Horitoyo, and Horitaka; Swiss artist Filip Leu; American Traditional Tattoo icon Bob Roberts; Spain's Tattoo realist Robert Hernandez; Biomechanical Tattoo pioneers Guy Aitchison and Aaron Cain; and Tribal Tattoo artists Leo Zulueta and Roger Ingerton.

The majority of the art in the Mui Collection exists as full (often vivid) color, torso-sized original paintings consisting of extraordinary images and designs. Smaller images known as “Flash Art" will also be included in the sale. Other than this unique auction, examples of original Tattoo Art can be found in a number of the world's leading museums.

Although the use of Tattoos to adorn the human body pre-dates recorded history, it is over the last several decades that the art of Tattooing has gained true international recognition. No longer limited to smaller and simpler designs applied to a very few, today one need not go far to encounter Tattoo enthusiasts who proudly display far more extravagant images and designs that often cover extensive portions of their bodies. With the proliferation of Tattoo Art, it is no surprise that a select group of Tattoo artists have risen to exalted positions, generating large groups of admirers.

Though their work was mostly limited to body applications, Mui was successful in appealing to the finest mainstream artists and ultimately responsible for making their creations recognized as the world's finest collection of Tattoo Art. His sudden and premature passing in 2009 left his family with his massive, archivally-maintained, totally unique collection. Inasmuch as Mui was an active buyer at Guernsey's events and was a personal friend of Arlan Ettinger, Guernsey's president, it was only natural that the Collection go in the direction of the New York-based auction house.

DJ MAG ANNOUNCES TOP 100 DJS POLL 2015 RESULTS… AND A NEW NO.1 DJ(S)

dimitri vegas like mike djs fashionado

The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll powered by 7UP has a new winner(s). Belgian brothers, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, the first duo to win the annual Poll, were announced at the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF), before performing in front of tens of thousands of dance music fans.

Commenting on the award, Dimitri and Mike said: “Thank you so much! Since day one we’ve put every bit of energy and time we can into our music and our shows in order to give the fans the greatest experience any DJ could offer. So it’s such an incredible honor to receive this award knowing it’s from the guys that matter most to us.”

The pair moved from No.6 to No.2 in the 2014 DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll. During the past year their dominance in the festival scene has been unrivaled, playing Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, Creamfields, and Mysteryland. All 40,000 tickets for the launch of their ‘Bringing The Madness 3.0’ shows at Belgium's Sportpaleis Antwerpen sold out in under 40 minutes; a feat previously only managed by U2, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Michael Jackson. The pair has also sold out 3 forthcoming UK shows, including London’s O2 Brixton Academy.

With their debut artist album in the making, the pair’s recent hit with Ummet Ozcan, ‘The Hum’, is joined by current single, ‘Higher Place’, featuring Grammy award winner Ne-Yo, the track that’s further shown their crossover status. It spent 6 weeks at the No.1 spot in the Belgian Charts, amassed views in excess of 7 million, and was one of the most worldwide Shazamed tracks at this year’s festivals.

For the third consecutive year, the Top 100 DJs Poll Awards powered by 7UP was held at the two-day Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF); returning for the second time to Amsterdam ArenA, the stadium for Ajax football club.

Jerusalem House presents the Hocus Pocus Halloween Party

jerusalem house halloween fashionado

If you only go to one Halloween party this season, the Jerusalem House Hocus Pocus is the one to go to! It is the best party, with the best party goers, best music, best food, best costumes, oh and did we mention an open bar?! And let's not forget about $3K in cash prizes for best costumes. For the second year in a row, I am thrilled to be judging the costume contest with "chief judge" WSBTV's Jovita Moore along with three other amazing, creative people. This is no easy task. It's supposed to be fun... but let me tell ya... these party goers take their costuming very very seriously!

So, are you a good witch OR a bad witch? Show us your coven on October 24th at the W Midtown.
