NYFW fashionado

New York's fashion industry is home to 13,800 fashion establishments with 900 fashion companies calling the city home, according to the New York City Economic Development Corporation. New York also hosts 75 major fashion trade shows and houses thousands of showrooms scattered throughout the boroughs. As a thriving fashion capital, the city is home to Fashion Week, couture museum exhibits and trend-setting boutiques.

New York City’s Fall Fashion Week kicks off September 10. Traditionally held at Bryant Park and Lincoln Center, Fashion Week moves to Soho and West Midtown in two locations called Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Square. While tickets to Fashion Week are difficult to score unless you’re an insider or a celebrity; there are other exhibitions, fashion landmarks and tours to enjoy. You can also check in with Time Out New York for updated lists of sample sales to score designer duds at a discount throughout the city.

FIT Museum

Stop by the famed Fashion Institute of Technology's museum for a look at fashion's long history and unique style icons. Upcoming exhibits starting in December 2015 include Denim: Fashion's Frontier. The exhibit Fashion Underground: The World of Susanne Bartsch directly follows Fashion Weekand opens September 18 through December 5. The exhibit looks at the socialite behind the extreme fashion and makeup who took New York City nightlife by storm in the 1980s and continues to do so in the present.

Free Garment District Tours

Mike's NYC Tours hosts Garment District Walking Tours with a look at the apparel industry and its winding history from the development of dress sizes to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Mike offers free walking tours throughout the year and shares his insider knowledge about the industry, including the best places to shop. The tour stops at boutiques and fashion landmarks around the city such as the Fashion Walk of Fame.

City Opera Thrift Shop

Head to the City Opera Thrift Shop at 222 E. 23rd Street near Third Avenue to shop while helping support its namesake opera. Explore two floors of carefully curated clothing and furniture from major designers, such as Christian Dior. Proceeds help fund the costumes for the New York City Opera, making this a unique fashion stop for those looking to support a good cause while finding quality clothes at a discount.

Fashion Walk of Fame

A fashion walk through Manhattan isn't complete without a stop at the Fashion Walk of Fame on 7th Avenue. See nearly 30 plaques commemorating some of the industry's great designers including Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Rucci. The walk was established in 1999 and is currently the only monument in the world dedicated to American fashion.

#MRTURKxFashionado TRUNK SHOW RECAP

No one does color and pattern like Mr Turk. No one does menswear like Mr Turk. And in Atlanta, the only place to find this amazing brand is at Trina Turk at Phipps Plaza. Mr Turk is one of the most refreshing menswear labels out there. Jonathan Skow a.k.a. Mr Turk, embraces impeccable tailoring, great design, bold prints, pattern and vibrant colors to create unique collections for confident men. This is fashion! As a fan of Mr Turk, I was thrilled and honored to host his first ever trunk show in Atlanta and introduce this exciting fashion line to a new audience. It was a true fashion party at Trina Turk with a fun group of fashionados and fashionistas enjoying Bulleit Bourbon cocktails, beef tenderloin and lobster bites from Davio's Restaurant while they played "dress up" and shopped. The evening had a socially-conscious purpose as well, bringing awareness to Pride School Atlanta. A portion of Turk sales benefited the school committed to providing a safe, fun and rigorous learning environment to LGBTQQIA students, families and educators.

“COACH PUPS” LAUNCHES WITH LADY GAGA’S FURRY FRIEND MISS ASIA KINNEY

Coach, Inc., a leading New York design house of modern luxury accessories and lifestyle collections, goes to the dogs as it reveals its newest advertising campaign. Titled “COACH PUPS,” the new campaign features canine stars in a series of portraits photographed by Steven Meisel. It launches this month with Miss Asia Kinney, the adorable four-legged companion of Lady Gaga.

The campaign celebrates the dogs in our lives and captures the pups’ unique personalities as they “model” Coach’s Fall 2015 star bags. Additional PUPS staring in the campaign will be revealed shortly.  Miss Asia Kinney, Lady Gaga’s now famous French Bulldog has amassed a substantial social media following in only a few short weeks. The Coach bags she elegantly models in the campaign are the Edie and the Rucksack. Lady Gaga commented: “I am so proud of Miss Asia! She's a natural in front of the camera, and we're both so excited that the iconic Steven Meisel shot her for Coach's pup campaign! I really love getting to watch my best friend be a star.”

Stuart Vevers, Creative Director at Coach comments, “'I’ve never had so much fun on a shoot. The combination of Mr. Meisel and the pups was an extraordinary, surreal, special moment. We wanted to create playful images that make you smile. We were inspired by some images from the Coach archive, which featured Eddie—the dog that starred in the TV series Frasier—to create something joyful, with humor and character. That’s a spirit that’s uniquely at the heart of Coach."

This new initiative will also introduce the social campaign #coachpups, including a range of online activities for fellow dog fanciers, opportunities for Instameets, special talks and other events hosted by the great and the good of the canine world. This will also mark the debut of the Coach Snapchat account.

Coach has made a donation to Chicago French Bulldog Rescue (frenchieporvous.org) on behalf of Miss Asia Kinney and her devoted owner.

Brunello Cucinelli Spring 2016 Menswear

If I could only use one word to describe the Brunello Cucinelli 2016 menswear collection, that word would be "perfection." Cucinelli takes a casual, sporty and chic approach to this collection. The looks are styled to perfection, just like the fit. What I am most obsessed with are the pants. All trousers, draw string pants and denim have a specific cut for a specific fit. They offer one pleat, making them slightly roomier at the thigh but continue to taper down the leg. Most are cuffed and ride on the ankle. It's the details that matter.

Moschino 2016 Menswear

No one can accuse Jeremy Scott of being boring. Clever, talented and a little crazy, yep... He drew inspiration from Louis XIV and from Moschino's Pitti Uomo location for the extravagant collection. Embroideries, ruffles and metallics made way for decadence on the runway. Racecar and graffiti prints ruled and Moschino spokes girl, Katy Perry sat front row... View collection.

PHOTOS: Doggies on the Catwalk 2015

Whether you missed it and / or just wanted to relive the best fashion moments from the 8th Annual Doggies on the Catwalk, our photographer Scott Reeves did a great job of capturing the evening at Buckhead Atlanta. Enjoy!
