New World Punx unveil “Bang” + official music video...

new world punx

New World Punx, the two-headed monster comprised of Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten, unveils their latest percussion-heavy record “Bang.”

Following New World Punx’ previous slammers “Romper” and “Torque,” the duo’s third original release kicks off with distorted vocal sample chops encouraging listeners to “bang to the beat of the drum” before pounding kicks ricochet into an electro synth breakdown.

The percussion-riddled release is paired with a black-and-white official music video in which the main character runs amuck akin to a 2015 version of “Run Lola Run.”

Both legends in their own rights, Schulz and Corsten’s electrifying chemistry in the studio and behind the decks has seen them effortlessly form of the most exciting and dynamic partnerships in the electronic music scene today. Having already performed at some of the world’s most sought-after festivals including Tomorrowland, Coachella, EDC, Ultra and Stereosonic, New World Punx’ refreshing and fun-loving ethos has stepped up to fill a gaping void in the market that has caught the attention of talent and tastemakers alike.

Out Now: John Dahlbäck Featuring Alexx Mack "Count To Ten" (Armada Music)

Swedish DJ and electronic dance music producer John Dahlbäck’s latest single, “Count To Ten” featuring Alexx Mack, is out now. The single is the third from Dahlbäck’s forthcoming full-length studio album, Saga (Armada Music).

There’s something about Swedish electronic dance music producers and their seemingly innate ability to write the catchiest of leads. Upon a single spin of “Count To Ten,” it is guaranteed that the song will ring in one’s ears for hours or days to come. Uncompromising in its production, “Count To Ten” has perhaps more in common with radio-friendly synth-pop than it does with house music. While the boundaries of progressive-house music have widened to encompass a field where outright pop songs are as much at home on the dancefloor as their grittier, more “underground” cousins, Dahlbäck sees no reason to limit himself to just one style. The first single from Saga, “Raven,” had more of a dark, clubby vibe and that track got dance music fans ready for a long night of celebration. The second single from Saga, “Atlantis,” held a deep allure colored by the song’s warm, creamy vocals. “Count To Ten” is unabashedly buoyant and upbeat, positive to the core. It is this versatility Dahlbäck possesses as a producer that suits him so well as a performing DJ. There is literally nowhere he is afraid to take his audience, and he’s loved for it.

The Radio Edit of “Count To Ten” pops the champagne cork right from the outset as the high-pitched female vocal comes in. Instantly, this edit has all the workings of an effervescent pop tune, not only of a great progressive-house track. This edit is pure in its crystalline directness and at no point in the song does Dahlbäck’s hand waiver. This song shows that Dahlbäck is unafraid to go this pop music route because he knows his clubbing bona fides remain intact. The Extended Mix has a longer, syncopated intro with a beat that sets the stage for a spell before the main vocal even enters the picture. The vocal is more treated and stuttered on this version and the infectious, high-energy refrain makes even this mix easily grasped. The sunny energy is addictive and irresistible. Popstar-in-the-making Alexx Mack has a bold, come-hither voice full of self-affirmed female swagger and it is absolutely of-the-moment. Music lovers can also catch a glimpse of Mack in the official music video for “Count To Ten” to be released in late-December.

As a producer and DJ, John Dahlbäck has an inherent sense of what works on a dancefloor. His music consistently earns support from the top names in the industry, including from Avicii, Pete Tong, Tiësto and Swedish House Mafia, among others. Over the years, Dahlbäck has had his music released on top record labels, including Ultra, Toolroom, Defected, Spinnin’, Subliminal, Big Beat/Atlantic, Ministry of Sound, Kompakt, Dessous and others. Additionally, Dahlbäck has lent his sought-after production skills to remixes for the likes of Lady Gaga, 50 Cent, David Morales and others. Having grown up in a family reverberating with music, one of Dahlbäck’s earliest forays into electronic music was while tinkering with his father’s Atari computer as a youth. It was perhaps unsurprising that Dahlbäck would sign his first record deal at age 17, a time when most of his peers were just discovering the club scene. Today, Dahlbäck DJs at leading nightclubs and festivals around the world including at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel on the Balearic island of Ibiza.

VIKTOR LUNA SS16 X LAVERNE COX

For Spring Summer 2016, Viktor Luna reveals yet another way of crafting modern fashion in his collection, NEW ERA. One cannot design for the future without looking to the past; in this case, the Sumerians served as a point of reference, with a signature integration of a futuristic, urban edge. Metallics and high-gloss finishes conjure a feeling of glamour and electricity present in the 1970’s disco age. Tailored leather jackets layer atop multidimensional sartorial vesture. Pleated liquid lame is present in conceptual gowns as the technique cascades into more ready-to-wear styles, such as skirts and trench coats for both men and women.

This season, Luna creates a collaborative art film with Director, Sophy Holland, featuring the artists and performers who have supported his brand throughout his career. Names such as Laverne Cox, Jackie Cruz, Jonte Moaning, Leo Pelligrino and Samantha Diaz make appearances, alongside models such as Trevor Shapiro and Ashley Kolodner. [Laverne Cox fans] this video is everything! Great energy, choreography, music, cameos by Viktor Luna himself and of course, amazing fashion & style!

Spring Summer 2016 will also mark the first season that Viktor Luna will be showcasing accessories, collaborating with leading footwear designer Zach Lo and celebrity eyewear designer A-Morir. The collection will be available in November 2015 on www.viktorluna.com and select retailers. Each piece in the collection is hand crafted at Viktor Luna’s NYC-based atelier.

Custom orders can be placed online at: www.viktorluna.com/shop.

Secret Supper: Hampton + Hudson's Private Dinner at Frye Atlanta

Restaurateurs Billy and Jenn Streck are set to open their first solo concept, Hampton + Hudson - a community driven bar and restaurant located in Inman Park at 280 Elizabeth Street this winter. Billy, best-known as co-owner of the bustling, Midtown hotspots Cypress Street Pint and Plate and GRAIN drink shop and eatery, is set to create another approachable and affordable haunt with his wife in one of Atlanta’s fastest growing neighborhoods. Jenn, an Atlanta native, has years of experience in both the music and bar industries and brings a wealth of talent and vision to their first concept. Together the two are striving to create a “true community bar and restaurant” that focuses on the overall experience, redefines how diners look at pub food, and features a well-rounded bar program. The 3,500-square foot space, that also boasts a mezzanine, intimate outdoor patio and fire pit, will include distinctive touches inspired by many of their favorite go-to spots from their travels and when they lived in the East Village in New York, but will play to both the spirit of the neighborhood and Atlanta’s ever-growing dining scene.

During a private secret supper at the newly opened The Frye Company Atlanta flagship store, Billy and Jenn Streck revealed that Cooper Miller, formerly of JCT Kitchen & Bar, is going to be the Executive Chef of Hampton + Hudson. The H+H team also created a special five-course menu just for the evening and showcased two cocktails that will be on the menu, the Hampton and the Hudson, along with a beet and carrot salad, shredded snow crab and avocado toast, signature Hot Chicken dish and more.

"This is a place where we wanted to mix a little of all of our loves of the bar and restaurant industry into a community establishment,” said Jenn Streck during the dinner. "We love going to a place and feeling like you are at home, so that is what we hope to do for our guests.”

The exclusive experience featured signature cocktails by Georgia’s own Lovell Bros. Whiskey and brews by Wild Heaven Craft Beers, live acoustic music by Mike LaSage, Bone Lick BBQ’s award-winning chef and pitmaster, and shopping of Frye’s Fall and Winter Collections.

The evening also boasted a who's who of Atlanta media and other notables, including Councilman Kwanza Hall who enlisted my styling services over a pair of Frye boots and wingtips. Sitting to my left was the AJC's Ashley Twist Cole and Jenn Streck to my right. Directly across from me (and in my conversation circle) my friend Tova Gelfond of Eide Magazine, Director Jeff Wadlow who's in town from LA to shoot the True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix and Kate Atwood with ChooseATL. I forced myself to remain cool, calm and collected over one special guest seated directly across from me, because I'm such a huge fan of The Walking Dead, and that guest was Lauren Cohan - totally delightful, fun and down to earth. So I purposely did not bring up TWD and spoke with Lauren about other things like how much we love The Frye Company. At the end of the evening as Lauren gave me a goodbye hug I couldn't resist any longer and simply told her "btw, I'm devastated every Sunday," and she relied with a "yeah... it's good huh?"
