New Year New You: Photo Shoot 2017

Blazer & Pants: ETRO Shirt: Brooks Brothers Shoes: Ferragamo Eyewear: Warby Parker

As the new year unfolds, many of us focus on a "new you." For me, this meant a fashionado upgrade. It was time to switch it up a bit with new looks, different styles. I took a more sophisticated approach to my personal style and image so in some of the photos I'm wearing Etro, one of my favorite design labels. Etro does pattern like no one else can and their fit is perfection! And because [I think] I'm a cool 50 year old, I couldn't resist and had to stage a few shots that showcased my ink. You can be dapper yet still be edgy.

One of the best photographers in Atlanta also happens to be one of my best friends... Tomas Espinoza. We've been working together for a long time. Tomas is a perfectionist as am I, so we're a great match. I was able to pull him away from his busy shooting schedule at HGTV and as a freelance photographer to spend half-a- day with me! I'll be replacing some of the fashionado banner images with these. Thanks Tomas!

Nairobi, the New Milan- Introducing The Ministry of Tomorrow

Nairobi, The New Milan - Kibera slum tailors compete with top couture brands as Ministry of Tomorrow debuts premier luxury vegan unisex bag collection

The Ministry of Tomorrow (MOT) announced today the debut of its premier luxury, vegan, unisex, bag collection.

MOT’s flagship production facility located in Nairobi, Kenya just outside of Kibera, Kenya’s largest slum, is Africa’s newest fashion house.

The company recruited highly skilled tailors who reside in Kibera and offered them fare wage jobs to work with high quality sustainable materials including; Italian and Japanese animal free leather, 100% certified organic and fair trade cotton from India and low impact dyes accepted for use with organic textiles.

After several years of perfecting design, production and eco-material sourcing, MOTs Nairobi factory produces luxury bags that are on par with Milan’s notables but with a new twist.

“We design and produce eco-luxury bags for a new audience of conscious consumers. Social, environmental and animal rights activism is at the core of our brand. Our bags are produced with respect for the earth and care for animals and the people who are involved at each step of the production” said Julian Prolman, founder and president of the Ministry of Tomorrow.

MOT launched its classic collection with four original designs that include; a portfolio, briefcase, cross-body and a backpack that are available in two elegant vegan black leather options. The bags are masterfully crafted with a minimalist exterior and a wild Afro-funk Maasai warrior mask pattern interior.

“We have a new story for the fashion world. This is more than fashion, it’s an awakening, a new way of doing business that empowers people and protects animals and the planet” said Prolman.

The new collection retails from $395 to $895 and can be purchased online directly from the company at www.ministryoftomorrow.com

FILA X Premium Goods Strike Gold with the Original Tennis

FILA and Premium Goods Strike Gold with the Original Tennis

FILA and Premium Goods Strike Gold with the Original Tennis

FILA and Brooklyn-based boutique Premium Goods, have come together to create a golden version of the Original Tennis. The retailer first opened its doors in Brooklyn back in 2002, followed by a space in Houston in 2004. To kick off their 15 year anniversary in 2017, Premium Goods has linked with FILA, on a footwear design that gives a nod to the borough that established them. With Brooklyn in mind, it was clear the Original Tennis silhouette was the perfect choice. Though its known as an iconic tennis shoe, it has adapted other personalities, allowing different walks of life to identify with this style.

The silhouette features an all gold leather upper that sits atop a white midsole and gum outsole. Up close, the premium golden leather offers a metallic look that is sure to turn heads whether you’re walking in the streets of Brooklyn or traveling across the globe. The next time someone poses the question, “Where Brooklyn At,” this can be your new golden answer. Additional design details include dual lace options in navy and biking red hues, which also appear in the logo, collar lining, and back tongue. The collaboration's coolest feature is the insole, which displays the names of Brooklyn neighborhoods like Bushwick, Williamsburg, Park Slope, Coney Island, Bensonhurst, and Bed-Stuy.

The FILA x Premium Goods Original Tennis are available in men’s sizes at both Premium Goods locations. The shoes will retail for $100.
